Ok after my mini-bitch fest, renton and jeff got me to tighten up significantly and I think it helped a lot.

Heres 7 hands from my last session of the night (where, FWIW, I think I played the best I have in quite a while)




Hand 1) Villain is 60/10 but i have no idea what he has and I have no idea if he'll fold a weak Kx. But I feel like checking the turn is akin to surrendering, and he's given me no reason to think he's not drawing.

I have no reason to think I'm beat, but I couldnt think of a reason to raise - if he's got me beat he's gonna punish me so I'll take the LHE line of raise-da-river-because-they-call-but-wont-reraise-without-the-nuts. I like this one, but I wanted to see what you guys thought.

Hand 3) Villain is 57/30. His flop bet tells me he's not too sure of his hand. I think if I check to him on the turn I'm losing value because he'll bet small again like $4 or some crap. So I donk into him and he calls. At this point I'm thinking villain has something like JJ-KK. River is value, I hope.

Hand 5) Just sat down so no clue on this guy. His betting is weak, I really felt like A high was goot on the turn, and I knew it was on the river. But I dont think theres value in leading the river - he'll fold with air, call with the A and we split... so I thought a c/bomb was creative. If he calls we're splitting but if he folds an A its pure profit.

Hand 7) Shorty on my right, 70/10 on my left, hoping someone would make a move. I love the shortstacks betting patterns... so fucking weeeaaakkk. I have a hard time taking value from these people, often I think just letting them hopelessly fire away with their patheticly small bets is the way to go -- but its hard to get 'em all in like that. But if you raise they'll fold. Tough for me to find that balance so far. The river raise seems to work good, tho. Human nature of "gotta pay to see myself get beat".

Generally you suck at building pots. Stop trying to slowroll people or protect yourself unnecessarily. Such as the AK hand. Basically your mind set should be the times you build and accomplish a big pot winning showdown vastly outweigh the times you lost some value by inflating a pot prematurely against weak second bests and making them fold.

In literal terms it's like saying "Hey, I'm here to build a big pot Mr. Villain. If you don't like that, then fk off weaksauce." It's when he comes back and says "No, you fk off", that you are left with real decisions. In any case, don't be afraid to get to that point where you are making a tough decision. That's poker.

Hand 1: Standard. Were you gonna call a river bet?

Hand 2: Raise the flop. If not, at least raise the turn.

Hand 3: Reraise somewhere again, probably flop, otherwise turn.

Hand 4: I think you have to go all-in if you want to bluff it...AT LEAST potsized. I could be wrong, but I think that 40$ will get called a lot.

Hand 5: Raise the flop? Hand plays different then, in this particular one opp probably would have folded I think.

Hand 6: Bet the flop, get some value out of PP's.

Hand 7: Hehe c'mon you pussy, get value out of your sets!

In general, raise more, for value on your big hand and for letting villains draw against you.

Yes, i think this is where i most definitely do suck. I cant seem to balance between blowing them off their hand and getting value. This makes me pay off big when THEY inflate pots, but screws me when they dont call when I inflate pots.
