With so many great posts and solid advice here on FTR me being a semi newbie I have decided to start my own blog. Well see how well I put all of this knowledge the FTR community has to good or bad use. I did manage to win a national pub poker league trny last week so I have at least qualified for the Pittsburgh regional in febuary. So stop in and see how im doing as I'll update my progress as I go. as per my promise not to play for money till I feel I have gotten over my huge blow up on full tilt. I decided to go out and play in the national pub poker league torurny at my local bar. Took 2 real bad beats early but didnt tilt and with a few good all ins was right back in it. played smart from there on in and had a big stack in the final 2 and just bullied my opp for my 3rd win in 2 weeks. So how could I leave for the 10:00 played much better early made to the final table again but was short stacked dealt Ak had to go all in lost in a show down finished 8th. not a bad night all in all going down on a few bad beats early in that first game tested my disc and played well.FTR advice helped alot thanks guys. maybe next week try some low lomit cash see how I go from there.

dropped 50 into a bodog account played well I thought and took some god awful beats. jeez draw pocket q's flop comes out 4 5 q. tried to milk it out and lost to a friggin straight on the river the guy had 3 outs and he still bet that. But I didnt tilt real bad did the right thing and got up and left but that hand cost me alotta chips. Man just when you think you might have a clue as how to pla this game it bites you in the ass. will take another week off from money and im going to post some hands and see where in screwing up

been a little while took a bit off from playing poker, just trying to read on hear as much as I can lately. Dropped another $50 in my bodog account been playing 05/10 I am trying to be patient, I limit myself to one hour at a time. Have gotten my $50 up to 77. My goal is $200 then ill move on up. These low limit games are tediuos tho and heaven help you when you bluff because you just cant do it...period. i finishd 50 out of 548 players i was very dissapointed in my play really. had ak suited went all in and lost. poor choice on my part. Man I have been getting beat up real bad online lately, I dont understand it what the fuck is my problem I lost 50 last night, I am questioning my ability to play this game. ok guys time for another update. Well teachers I did my assigned reading and read up on alot of hand histories and forum posts. It turns out I had $1.95 left in my ultimatebet account so it was of to the .01/.02 tables for me. Man that was tough sledding I can tell you!! I dropped my munmber of playable hand down some I went with the top ten and some suited connectors. Played a bit more aggresively than I used to. Get alot of limpers when im in lp and take a stab at raising them off, worked alot more than i thought it would. also raised alittle bit more so I could get a read on opps hands. I went slowly but I made it up to $20.00 in a few days. As per my reading I applied the 200xbb rule and moved up to .5/10 again I played the same way and did fairly well rode my $20 up to $58 dollars. Had a bad night on saturday took some god awful beats and made a couple of mistakes dropped down to $47 dollars but quess what happened!! Instead of getting pissed and going on tilt saturday night I said fuck it you wont win every time you sit down and play, decided to smartly call it a night and went downstairs to watch t.v. I think I have made SOME progress on my game not much but some. I wnat to post some HH's but cant figure out how to do that on ultimate maybe ill just write them down and post them that way. Anymore advice or critques welcomed,Thanks guys

been awhile since my last update, just started a new job and have been working alot of o.t. not played much played a couple of bar toyrneys and managed a win on staurday night I almost doulbled up and won the 2nd game to but wound up 3rd. Had a bad bad beat online friday ouch cost me damn near all of my br. Was dealt pocket aces raised 4xbb everyone but 2 players folded. the one guy called then the other went all in. What could I do I had to call. I had Ah As flop comes up 2 diamond and a club. You all can quess where this is going right??? Guy catches running diamonds and beats me with a flush. He had Ac and Ad couldnt belive it not in a million friggin years. Bad beat but what the hell it happens. So its back to the .01/.02 tables for me till I build back up again. Think Im going to use 400xbb as my new goal for moving up. That way I can take a bad beat like that with less pain. Ill let you all know how im doing. thanks guys

gotta get up on my soap box here for a sec or 2. I have taken a bit of guff for a couple of hand history postings I have made, A few commemnt like is he seriuos or is this guy for real ect. I quess the old adage the only stupid question are the un asked ones. Of course im serious ive only been playing since december really and if im not sure about something im going to ask so ill quess ill apologize to all of the more experianced players in advance if you find some of my posts beneath youre notice. I dont mind a little constructive ctritizing but theres no need to poke at me either. Im still playing.01/.02 got my br back up to 97.50 when I get to $200.00 to say $250 maybe ill move up to .05/.10. Man its tough getting it up 3 or 4 dollars at a time but I really enjoy playing. One thing I am starting to notice tho, some of these people at this level are a hell of alot worse than I am or maybe just maybe am I getting just a bit better????

washu, I'm completely serious when I say this is the best blog ever. You are obviously determined to become a better player and are a student of the game, so hats off to you!

I think the fact that people make fun from time to time stems from the fact that you are playing micro-limits - which in many ways will impede your progress as you will be playing against donks a lot of the time and the bad beats will be nasty. So if you can find a way to set aside some kind of bankroll to play a little higher up, then do it....

Regardless, I believe I probably speak for many of us when I say that I admire your persistence and your eagerness to learn, and I want to see you succeed just as much as you do!

So keep it up, keep posting, and ignore the comedians. You belong on FTR just as much as anybody else.

Edit: Also, your commitment to proper bankroll management is an example that many on FTR would probably be well advised to imitate.

When I started this thing I had no idea what so ever that it would be read by so many people. everyones advice and offers of encouragement are greatly appriciated, I mean it guys thank you. this is going to be a long post so bear with me please. Poker to me is alot like life it's self really. They both have their ups and downs highs and lows. Its how you deal withem that makes us the indviduals that we are. I really enjoy playing poker, I like the mental challange it offers me playing against other people. To me poker isnt just about the money. Some people count on playing poker as part of their income. There isnt anything wrong with that really and im not disrespecting any one. but to me its kind of sad in a way. taking something you enjoy and basically turning it into a job, to each his own I quess. No to the heart of the matter. Last night night i just fucking blew up lost everything except .33. like I said about highs and lows ect... well you cant get any lower than this guys. its one thing to tilt another to play like a donk and throw in getting drunker then hell is a recipe for disaster. I was to coin a new term TDD... tilting drunk donk. they say the lessons learned best are the ones that smack you in the face the hardest. Well we will see if that holds true or not. Im still coming to grips with what I did to myself, never thinking of myself being self destructive im gonna have to take a long look in the mirror and see if I like the reflection.Im not going to spend a whole lot of time beating myself up to badly because I know im not the first person to ever do this and Ill get over it and move on. Like I said it not all about the money for me Ill go in work 2 or three hours of o.t. and get the money back. What is important to me is learnig from a totally senseless stupid act. They outta but this post in the begginers circle as a sticky really. been playing in $500 dollar free roll tourneys at the rythum house in pittsburgh surpised rilla hasnt shown up fot them really. The first one I played in got bounced like real quick. second one I finished 50th, the 3rd 25th and the last one I played thursday I finished 14th, Getting a better feel for the bigger tourneys being patient is the key to doing well in theese things I think. I am learning to pick my spots alot better. All I have to do is plug a few leaks and I know im gonna win a couple of theese things

played in that 500 fre roll again and the same result i finished 14th out of 167. I dont know its like im just hitting a friggin wall. Took 2 bad beats went all in in lp after a couple of limpers with jj some moron called me with 44 lost on the river to another 4. Was short stacked fought my way back again then they chipped up dealt pocket 8's went all in got called by pocket 6's .....well you know the rest. played a couple of $1 + .10 tourneys and cashed in them both. I am starting to think that the tourneys suit my game a bit better than cash games. for some reason i am more patient play a bit tighter and get better results. like to hear from you guys see what you all think

busy busy busy havent had much if any time to play. man im working 5 sometimes 6 12 hour shifts.you gotta make hay while the sun shines I quess, more money for me to lose playing i quess......

man am I glad thats overwith that was just to much work for a couple of weeks but my checking account seemed to like it. OT at $30 and hour I couldnt pass it up. Finally got to play for awhile friday night and guess what..... yup you got it yours truly got busted again!!! played horrible on friday Im thinks of changing my avatar to a donkey for awhile lol. played to many donkish hands and didnt get away from a few that I should have but tommorrow was another day. went ahead and put another $50 in my account. was well on my way to getting busted again. Then maybe just maybe I stared to see the light just a little bit. I wasnt full 100watt bright but im starting to see it a bit. I noticed I was playing to many hands, watching theese other donks pulling down pots going in with total crap. Man i said why the fuck cant I do that and proceeded to try just that. The results where predictable was down $ 25 in short order. Then I said screw this, its just comletely stupid this isnt good poker. patient be patient wait for good cards and play them accordingly. Thats just what I did and the results where just as predictable. By the end of playing on saturday night I had bumped up my br to $154 and change. Its kind of weird how many people will bet into when you have a nut flush or high set on the board. One asshole was dissing me saying I was lucky and I hardly played any hands at all. About 15min later I busted him and sat back and enjoyed the last laugh. I have a small br to play with now and am almost ready fo .05/.10. Man its nice to win some for a change I think I like it but I cant get cocky and have got to keep up my patient play and I hope the results will be again predictable.......PS hope all the poeple who I have talked to about ftr on ultimate bet read my blog havent seen many responses yet so lets hear from you . all can go vote me the worst ...lol

Good to hear from you littlewashu, patience is definitely required for poker and playing tight preflop really helps you to make best (and not second best) hands. You also have to learn not to get too attached to starting hands but listen to what your opponent is saying with his bets. The better you get at poker the more fun it is, good luck on your journey!

another fairly good weekend for me all in all. managed to bump mr br up to $186 on saturday. Its really weird sometime but in seem to want to play everything right off the bat and end up dropping some then that little light flashes on again and I settle down play good hands the right way and end up ahead. maybe one of these days ill play smart right for the get go. Finally ran into someone from ftr on saturday also, was nice to play with someone from on here. If I run into anyone else as always a fair crituqe would be appreciated. I mean none of this stupid shit like what a donk but if you guys see some holes in my play please let me know. Another regional qualifier for the pub poker league is this saturday looking forward to it really. I have been playing fairly well as of late when i get the time to play. NEWSFLASH.....DATELINE PITTSBURGH PA..LittleWashu breaks $200 barrier. finally I thought id never get by that....whew. Also im going to make my first withdrawl ever its only $40 but its a start. Im going to stay at .5/.10 for ahwile anything over that 200 dollar mark im going to withdraw. pittsburgh regional tourney is today im stoked cant wait to play today. Been reading multi table tactics for the last couple of days to bone up a bit., I can do this I know I can. Just avoid playing like a donk and pick my spots wish me luck guys

PLEASE MR MIDAS SIR NOT IN THE HEAD,ANYTHING BUT a HEAD SHOT!!!! I kind of withdrew that money for a reson dude, just to say I actually got some money out of them thats all. Mr br is back up to 233 and some change. Played in the pittsburgh regional tourny saturday man was that place packed. last count I had heard was like 450+. Seemed like I couldnt catch any cards early and when I did it seemed like I got sucked out. I stayed patient and managed to bust the poeple who sucked me out. All in all I was very happy with my play didnt go as deep as I wanted ended up finishing 52nd. Late in I couldnt get that one lucky hand that you uuaslly need to make it to the final table. Well it was back to the free roll tourny for me tuesday. Best I have played in awhile, aslo best cards i have gotten in awhile. pulled of an awsome bluff for a big pot, had a good read on this guy , knew he had a small pair flop A 7 9 he bet out and I went all in took down the pot. Made it to the final table in great shape. guy goes all in I have pocket aces I call he had J,Qo makes his straight on the river. that about crippled me one A pot 2 hands later and after that one hand knew this guy was going all in with damn near anything dealt pocket 2's called him lost again on the river yuk. shook his hand after the first suck out and maybe showed a slight lack of class(or maybe I was just to pissed) declined A second time thinking to myself this fish couldnt spell fucking poker If I gave him a dictionary and spotted him the first four letters.
Back to working at least ten hours A day so havnt played much online lately. Seems the only time I have for that is friday night or after I get back from the races on saturday. So im at .5/.10 until I hit $600. this is going to take Awhile. For me though Im not in any great hurry, Some people play for a living or to supplement income or to buy a new toy( With me it just might be for a vacation!!) I just want to keep improving for now really. Still waiting for some constuctive critscism form some of you guys I have played with on ultimate bet lets hear from you guys. Sup all hope everyone had a great memorial day weekend!!! Because I sure as hell didnt.... I lost five buy ins on friday. Not matter what I had It got cracked. It was just plain old ugly. Pocket aces got the guy all in preflop he ctaches a miracle 7 on the river. dealt a staight guy gets runner hearts I lose to a flush ect ect... but I quess thats why you have a BR. I ended up maybe 40 down for the 2 days some of that was for some tourny buy ins also. Might try to play a few more tournys if my cash game can support it, if not then I dont think ill play a whole lot of them. On another note had a impromto job interview today, saw a add in the paper turns out my bro knows somone down there, man ill trade a months worth of poker luck to get thjis one. $25.45 an hour to start, hey if im gonna be a machinist I wanto to be a UNION machinist so wish me luck guys and if there are any church goers out there put in a good word for me!!!
