    Default Tough Spot

I am experimenting with playing taggy poker (15/12/4 ish... YIKES! SO WEIRD!) and found this spot really interesting.

I raise to 7$ from the CO with

Laggy villain to my left, who loves to cold-call preflop ( I have a feeling his cold-calling range is HUGE as he's shown down shit like J7s for a straight in a huge pot after cold-calling preflop), has been pwning the table and hasn't been caught out of line yet. He likes to C/R the river with monsters, but that doesn't really apply here. My only other read - no surprise here - is that he plays both his monsters and his bluffs very fast postflop.

No HH with me (away from my CPU) but stacks are about :

    Villain : 650ish
    Hero : 225 ish (NL200)

    Flop is

    I bet 12 into 17

    Villain raises to 39$

    I call.

    Turn (pot is 85ish)

    I check, villain bets 65$

Now if we look at the situation, what are my best options? Is there any point to raising (me thinks no)?

Here's my other question, if I improve on the river, does the hand play any differently?

Confused, I called and laughed as the river (pot is now 210$ lol) brought :

I check, villain shoves. (I don't think I can fold, .... but WTF???)

    What do you think?

Replies to any of the questions in the post are most welcome as I felt really confused and lost here. The question I'm really curious about is whether or not you feel that making top 2 pair on the river changes the decision.

EDIT : How about the river decision if a blank falls (kinda repeating same question...)?
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

a little town called none of your goddamn business
You destroy his range by the river, so theres no question its a call. I would have value bet i think, unless you really put him on having air a lot (and being willing to shove air on THAT board). The turn is a questionable spot though. I fold there probably.

I think the Q helps since he could have played A7, A3, AT the same, except those hands are a little less likely to push on the river.

bet-folding the turn is a decent play, but check-folding works too since a big bet from a good lag is repping better than AQ...then again if I thought there was a high enough chance of a bluff I'd call.

AT is really likely but if you are playing TAGG and you reckon he realises thi then you have to expect he has you creamed.
If he sucks enough its an insta call and pay anything better because of image.
As played im insta calling this and loling at river suckout or crying at TTT played so passivly preflop

    ?

I take it you're suggesting "fold if he doesn t suck"?

What kind of "suckiness"? FWIW he's big at 3 other tables I scanned while seat-searching...

does he recognise how you play or is he just playing the cards he's dealt? (hard to believe this type of player exists in the stars 400l game)
Is he (dumb enough/nth'ing enough) to raise a big hand on a blank flop?

    Downswinging holla!
    15/12 isn't taggy btw, it's nitty.

You have to call here now as villain can and should be betting two pair when it's checked to him here on the river. I would have probably folded the turn though but calling is better than shoving so I like your line in that regard.
