Default weird spot with top pair check raised on turn

this hand is from a little while back, but I just started thinking about it again.

this was early in a hu match (a 6max table had just broken down), and pretty soon after i won a reraised pot vs him where i check-called down with top pair of aces vs his bluff. I don't think either of us have good reads, but generally view each other as pretty good tags capable of moves. he seems a little tighter pre flop then most tags though.
I checked behind the flop for pot control and to mix up my play. I know betting might be better, but I'm really looking for insights on the turn as the flop was played.

I'm not sure if he thinks I'd check behind a good one pair on the flop, but I did check-call that last time oop.

    here is the hand...

it felt weak (would he really check twice with a better hand on such a drawy turn?)...but I folded, figuring I'd be pretty clueless facing a big river bet almost no matter what card came and was not confident enough to 3bet.

What would you consider in this spot, and how would you play this turn and potential river bet?

That's not a draw heavy board for your range

I would fold here. Think about what you're trying to achieve. You want to showdown a winner in a middish pot against a top pair non believer.

You know what always makes my fold easier in a spot like this? It's knowing that if he's making a move that big without something that beats K9 in this spot, then he's potentially giving you implied odds in future hands with marginal holdings.

Your hand just isn't strong enough to go any further here.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

This is HU vs an aggro opponent who could be getting frustrated.

Folding is VERY weak. Your hand is underrepped (even though you did the same thing in the previous hand it doesn't mean he thinks you'll always check behind with top pair).

I understand the fold since you'll likely be facing a substantial river bet. However, I think the standard and probably correct play is to call here and check-call a non-club, non 2 or 7 river.
when the vpip's are high and the value bets are like razors, who can be safe?

I would seriously consider calling this, this is how we make money. Reason is, his raise seems unusually large if he wants a call. (or is he just doing a "bet pot" thing?)

ya, he just hit the bet pot button, its pretty common on UB, but typing in smaller sizes is still popular...so it did seem odd. also fwiw in the reraised pot, he really bet the turn large on his bluff (a little less than pot, but the board was dry and it left liek 1/3 pot in stacks or something).

edit..i just realized, i dont know what draw he' s semi bluffing, so there could be 21 scare cards on the river! i guess that the odds one of those doesn't fall is about good enough for calling a pot sized raise, but that's what i was confused about, and whether i should 3bet if i think semibluffs are most of his range.

and rondavu - i mean i originally wanted to showdown in a medium pot, but think this turn and action would've been a good spot to change courses with my hand. don't you think he would've led out with a big hand?
