    Default bb/100

I was strictly a tournament player until the past week. I am trying to broaden my horizons after a terrifying run in some sng's dropped" dropped half my roll"

So now I am playing .10/.25 NL 6 Max at fulltilt. its super easy so far just playing the basic poker I know how to play but the profit is also slow but thats called rebuilding...

I am just wondering what a good/avg bb/100 hands should be. So i know where I stand.

I searched the forum quite a bit earlier and could not find anything on it, so any help would be appriciated.

    Thanks,
    zarry
    I am that fish...

    No hindsight for the blind.
This discussion comes up again and again. Basically you're not going to play enough on any level <100NL to know your true winrate, so as long as your roll is increasing don't worry about it.

For a cold number I'd say 8ptBB/100 is absolutely crushing the game, 4 ptBB/100 is great and 2 ptBB/100 is good.

You should be happy with any sort of long-term winning. Obviously, 6 is better than 4 and 10 is better than 8, so no one should say where anyone should be.

Just don't rely on a small sample ie. 10,000 hands.

If your winning just be happy. It's possible to run like 15ptBB/100 at 25NL (Well maybe not now but a few years ago).
You can have bad variance over 100k hands so you're never quite going to know.

I'm at just over 12bb/100 over my last 45k hands at the $25 so it's possible. I table select good though.

When you are playing stakes below 100nl your bbs/100 is an irrelevant figure. Nearly everyone who bothers to make some posts on FTR should be able to pick up the info here and be abale to camp at fr 100nl and make money. Hence, your first objectiove is a $2000/$2500 bankroll to play 100nl.

At small stakes, you will play so few hands to create a bankroll to move up to the next stakes level that your bbs/100 is irrelevant. 20k hands might seem a lot now, but really it isnt. At small stakes your bankroll should > bbs/100 simply because you should expect to beat these games unless you arent a winning player anyway.

So really bbs/100 is unimportant at the stakes i expect you are playing. Beyond that, 10bbs/100 long term is slaughtering a game as probably is 5bbs/100 over a decent sampe size. 2bbs/100 long term is about as acceptable as you get to be a winner.
But as noted, your sample size is too small anyway, and at small stakes you will move up too quickly for bbs/100 to matter so long as it is a positive number, whether 3, 5 or 16.

fwiw, i ran 18bbs/100 at 200nl for 55k hands, and only 4bbs/100 at 25nl for 20k hands. My real winrate should be bigger at 25nl and smaller at 200nl, with my lifetime being 5-9bbs/100 so far.

I knew this post would be here. As soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought "I bet Miffed has replied" and low and behold you did. I just found it quite funny.

OMG... I just realised I'm sad!

To OP I am 50NL player atm (or will be when my Internet is repaired) and Miffed's (and the other posters) advice is right. Don't get to hooked on what your winrates are or should be. If you run at 10ptBB/100 it doesn't mean you will at the next level or the one after that. After 100K hands a winrate can start to be identified but I imagine you won't be playing this many hands at one level before 200NL as you will want to keep moving up and so it won't be possible to tell you (acurrately) what winrate is achievable over a long period.

FWIW, I ran at 2ptBB/100 at 25NL over 12,000 hands and am now at 25ptBB/100 after 4,000 hands at 50NL. Variance is a strange beast!

if there is one thing our forums lack is stickies and such. 2+2 would still put your thought as a sticky. just add it to the beginner digest thing

(I copied this from another post)

Here's the official 2+2 breakdown for GWA (General Winrate Assumptions):

Negative PTBB : Thank god for Bonus whoring. Now get back to the Zoo.

0 - 1.4 PTBB : Remember that aces can make straights on both high and low ends !

    1.5 - 2.4 PTBB : No, 5678 does not beat ace high.

    2.5 - 4 PTBB : I bet you're typing "nh.." pretty damn often.

    4.1 - 6 PTBB : No, a LAG isn't a problem in your internet connection.

    6.1 - 8 PTBB : Hmmm... yeah .. not bad .. not bad .. come back in 50k hands and we'll see ..

8.1 - 10 PTBB : You have OBVIOUSLY being bad beating a lot of people. It's because of people like you that some of us sane winning players are throwing rigged theories around ! Stay away from my table you lucky fish !!!

10.1 + PTBB : Okay junior, enough with the bullshit. With that sample size, we can't even tell if you're a winning player AT ALL. You need at least 500 posts to be considered a serious poker player. You might not even be worthy of existing yet ! Spread your non-sense lies elsewhere ! I'm notifying the moderator !
