Default NL.... 6 max or full ring?

I want to get an idea of how many of you guys play 6 max and how many play FR and for what reasons. I am currently playing mostly on UB 100NL which is a ten handed game.

It seems like whenever a big pot developes, its between two huge hands.... ie. AA vs KK or set over set. Sometimes I think this takes alot of the skill out of this game. I like to play "poker" but its hard when the nuts (or near nuts) are out so frequently.

Im thinking of moving to 6 max. I currently 8 table FR .... how many tables do you guys multitable at 6 max?

Id appreciate any winrate differences (between FR and 6max) and any advice in general before I make the switch. Thanx for the help FTR.

They're not out that frequently. Are you saying you only like to play poker in huge pots?

You can't win huge pots very often trying to play "poker." Because what hand gets all the money in and folds?

i like full ring because players are weak bitches and telegraph their hands before the pot is >10bb.

Renton - if that's why you like it, do you find that most of your winnings come from stealing small to medium pots?

No, most of his (and my) winnings come when the weak bitches get tired of him stealing pots and play back at him, terribly.

not the question you asked, but your problem is the rocks at UB. you need to move to another site.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Insert trainer's "use the search feature." There must be at least 100 of these kind of threads.

On most sites it gets hard to find full-ring games at higher stakes. So 6-max is the natural way to go eventually.

The situation you describe is a standard rock-garden and yes it's pretty boring but fairly low-risk.
If you want to play all the streets then 6-max will be more fun; but there's a lot of development to be had by learning to Lagg it up a bit more against rocks.

Multi-tabling 6-max is generally considered more difficult than fr, and unless the table are completely transparent that's got to be the case; however the increased hands/hour means you probably won't see much change in hands played.

Win rate is such an ephemeral concept, usually is statistically insignificant at sample sizes we're talking about, varies certainly between sites..

I played FR all my poker career (going on one year now!) and I now play $100nl. I moved to $100nl 6 max about a month ago and like it a lot. The reason I like it is becasue the pace is fast, your monsters tend to get paid off better and you really learn how to play poker at 6 max. My winrate is lower at 6 max though (2BB/100 vs 5BB/100) but I occasionally go back to FR and I feel like I pwn FR....after playing 6 max, FR is SO passive and SO easy to read their hands. It's like they are playing with their cards face up. In short, I like 6 max better but my winrate is lower. However, it does wonders for your FR game.

full ring is about making the least mistakes, or bullying weak/tight foldaholics.
6max is more about aggression and hand reading, but not overly so.

koolmoe's right. This is probably the #1 reason that I prefer 6-max.
