Ill make the same post i always do to this question.

When you are playing stakes below 100nl your bbs/100 is an irrelevant figure. Nearly everyone who bothers to make some posts on FTR should be able to pick up the info here and be abale to camp at fr 100nl and make money. Hence, your first objectiove is a $2000/$2500 bankroll to play 100nl.

At small stakes, you will play so few hands to create a bankroll to move up to the next stakes level that your bbs/100 is irrelevant. 20k hands might seem a lot now, but really it isnt. At small stakes your bankroll should > bbs/100 simply because you should expect to beat these games unless you arent a winning player anyway.

So really bbs/100 is unimportant at the stakes i expect you are playing. Beyond that, 10bbs/100 long term is slaughtering a game as probably is 5bbs/100 over a decent sampe size. 2bbs/100 long term is about as acceptable as you get to be a winner.
But as noted, your sample size is too small anyway, and at small stakes you will move up too quickly for bbs.100 to matter so long as it is a positive number, whether 3, 5 or 16.

fwiw, i ran 18bbs/100 at 200nl for 55k hands, and only 4bbs/100 at 25nl for 20k hands. My real winrate should be bigger at 25nl and smaller at 200nl, with my lifetime being 5-9bbs/100 so far.

Great answer. I'll stop worrying about my BB/100. Thanks mate.

you bb/100 should be at least:

    5NL ~ 120bb/100 hands
    10NL ~ 60bb/100 hands
    25NL ~ 40bb/100 hands
    50NL ~ 20bb/ 100 hands
    100NL ~ 10bb/100 hands

and so on and so forth...

If you are not maintaining at least this rate of return, you are probably wasting your time.

W0w.. these numbers seem high. Are these bb's as in big blinds, instead of big bets? I can see this being true if we are talking about big blinds here.

Ya, these are too high. It's also not going to scale linearly.

On PS 8BB/100 is really strong.

Have you not ticked the "3rd hole card" option? Once you have that these figures are easily gettable.

Aiming for anything above 0 BB/ 100 is fine. Sound bankroll management tends to work out everything else for you, IMO.

That said, this post from 2+2 is the best I've ever seen regarding winrates.

    If that's any help...

Here's the official 2+2 breakdown for GWA (General Winrate Assumptions):

Negative PTBB : Thank god for bonus whoring. Now get back to the Zoo.

0 - 1.4 PTBB : Remember that aces can make straights on both high and low ends !

    1.5 - 2.4 PTBB : No, 5678 does not beat ace high.

    2.5 - 4 PTBB : I bet you're typing "nh.." pretty damn often.

    4.1 - 6 PTBB : No, a LAG isn't a problem in your internet connection.

    6.1 - 8 PTBB : Hmmm... yeah .. not bad .. not bad .. come back in 50k hands and we'll see ..

8.1 - 10 PTBB : You have OBVIOUSLY being bad beating a lot of people. It's because of people like you that some of us sane winning players are throwing rigged theories around ! Stay away from my table you lucky fish !!!

10.1 + PTBB : Okay junior, enough with the bullshit. With that sample size, we can't even tell if you're a winning player AT ALL. You need at least 500 posts to be considered a serious poker player. You might not even be worthy of existing yet ! Spread your non-sense lies elsewhere ! I'm notifying the moderator !

    No hindsight for the blind.
BB = Big Bet (comes from limit poker), ie 2xbig blind in NL. Because of the confusion alot ot people, myself included, like to use the term ptBB/100 (poker tracker BB/100 ie the BB/100 thats shown in PT).

And 5ptBB/100 over a big sample is waaaaay better than ok imho.

I would say it depends on the buy-in, but 5BB/100 is a great start, at worst.

To add to the confusion, I believe bb is big blind and BB is big bet. Although if you see bb/100 that just means the author was too lazy to use the shift key because he means BB/100.
