So I just finished my bonus at HoldemPoker.com and I realized that my overall strategy changed pretty drastically from playing a normal LAG game - I played 5 table full ring 25/25 PL hold em and the first 1/2 of the bonus period I tried (with little success) to pull some floating moves and some river bluffs and some semi bluffs on the players there...After losing a lot of pots where I would get called with the absolute weakest of hands, I pretty much played a much tighter straightforward game - Maybe its the fact I was playing full ring there, vs. my normal 6 max - But I can't tell you how many times I would get a big hand and raise 6-8X BB and get 5-6 callers...I hated to say it but i started playing weak/tight poker for the last several thousand hands there - I had players calling me with all sorts of crap and I think I got a little gunshy - I don't want to list a ton of examples but basically I started limping a lot more hands and then would bet when I hit hands - Normally I would be raising the hands I was limping with or at least raising them at times to mix things up, but it dawned on me that it didn't matter how I played most of the time because 4,7s was calling me down, A,8 would call $3 preflop raises...It probably didn't help that I ran really cold - the last week of play there I won about $130 on top of my $100 bonus, but if i'd had any good luck or even a few things go my way I am sure I would have easily won another 1-200 easily -
which leads me to this thinking - In full ring games, against really bad opponents (i really can't remember players this bad at any site i've played) is it better just to play weak/tight more often? I still raise the premiums of course, but i started limping a lot of hands which is unlike my normal game - I also got out of the way with TPBK hands if I was up against more than 2 opponents a lot of times - I dropped a couple sets on possible straight boards when 7 people were still in the hand AFTER i check raised them all -
or do you just take your strategy and stick with it? do any of you get weak/passive when your on a seemingly endless bad run of cards? I remember myself getting seemingly more aggressive when i would go through those times, but that seemed worse overall cause it just resulted in more tilt - Or maybe full ring just requires stronger hands period - and don't limp with things like QJo or K10 kinda hands and just fold them in MP - I still ended up with the bonus and another $150 in winnings, but I just didn't feel like I played my best...but when i made moves or c-bet flops with AK they were calling me with bottom pairs....just a little frustrating....
