Anosmic's 39 hands
No. Don't worry it's not a new starting-hand chart or anything
No, my basic opening hands at FR are basically 39 given below. Many are highly situational (89s I'd have to be lp with a lot of limping going on, or occasionally to a raiser looking for a trappy pot).
I'd be interested if anyone has any thoughts. I'm seriously thinking about cutting out raises with AJ, although it feels like it's worked quite well so far.
I'm really thinking about starting to raise KQ a bit more. But I'm not sure.
It's a small sample size (4k examples taken from 25k hands at 5/10/25 NL) but it's a start.
I've been checking KJs, it's fairing badly but it seems to me that the major losses have been suck-outs and chasing draws with correct odds, that haven't paid off. I'm relying on the fact that in time that'll start moving north on this chart.
Can't tell if Axs is a smart move or not. Again, situational.
Interesting are hands which are +$ and -BB. That's +BB/hand and -$/hand. If it's probably been winning at low-stakes and losing at higher stakes.
But again, sample size becomes an issue.
I did a quick check in my PT and got these figures (from 30k FR hands):
PFR VPIP no PFR
Hands 2265 3216
Win% 69% 25%
No Showdown 1226(*) 445
Won Showdown 342 368
Lost Showdown 296 345
Folded 354 1829
(* 50% of these are no-flop takedowns)
Seems to show that agression is good
But seeing that most of my won hands have not required me to actually hold the cards is significant. The importance of good c-betting is become all the more clear to me!
Okay, the hands:
