Block betting the river

    Default Block betting the river

Is this the logic for block betting vs check/calling the river?

--Block bet if I am not confident in my hand and think villain will check behind worse hands but bet/raise better hands or bluff too much for me to call

--Check/call if I am confident I'm ahead and villain will fold to a bet but checking could induce a bluff

I wanted to make sure because I noticed I've been check/calling more rivers lately and might've not been thinking about this enough.

Can someone explain what a block bet is? And when you make a block bet, is there a certain amount you want to bet (% of pot)?

Betting below 1/3 of the pot at the river. The idea is that weaker hands call/fold and better hands raise (so you know you can fold). It's a crucial thing to have in your toolbox.
