Default Trip 2s turned to boat on river

Played villian on two other tables and he was semi-loose but up money on most tables. I had recently taken his stack with a set when he pot the flop and called my all in...when he only had AK on a rag board.

Any way you don't call the river bet? I figured he'd bet the other streets for me. Would you have bet those different?

You would have to be insane to fold on the river. More on flop, LOTS more on turn, and would have 3 bet/push over his raise. I would also only check that river if I was certain he would bet so I could check raise.

Preflop is the only street Id play the same, but I may come in for a raise.

Dont minbet on this flop, Id probably bet $0.50.

The turn minbet is even worse, given the pot size, Id probably bet $1

Why are you checking this river? Throughout the hand it really seems like you dont want to get any value out of your hand. You make a set on the flop which is the reason you play low PPs, but you bet the flop and turn very weakly. On the river you make a full house but check. You need to take more initiative with your betting and get the money into the pot when you have a very strong hand like this. And no, you cant fold this river.

    gee...thanks

I'll knock of the min-betting. But like I said, I had reads this guy would bet it for me, probably with any King. I definately should have lead the river. Based on past play I interpretted his turn as a push off like in the last hand I took him for his stack. So I "thought" long and called him to make him try even harder on the river.

You play teh sucky poker. Seriously, I'm in accord with all the previous responses. Bet .50 on the flop, bet more (and three-bet over his raise) on the turn. As played, checking the river is not terrible, because he probably will try to bet you out, but I'd usually lead into him anyway.

Bottom line, you will be surprised to learn that playing hands faster and leading at least sometimes with monsters will make you a lot more money than slowplaying the eternal shit out of everything. If this guy had checked behind on the river you'd be kicking yourself.
