    Default two hands..

hand 1: SB leading out on the turn after i raised him on the flop confused me.. was i correct or should i have raised him again?

Hand one could occur if the SB thought you were raising for a free card, and wants to stop you drawing for free, or he feels he's way ahead/way behind and may fold to a turn raise.

at which point you should. not. raise.

I call the turn and raise the river.

but am i correct by calling the turn and calling the river in hand one ?

sometimes, really bad players check/call the flop and then lead out on the turn with a flopped set or something..or when the turn card puts them on two pair they don't think about they reraise they just lead out...

this guy wasnt a very good player if i recall correctly..

People raise too much on the river without knowing where they stand or raise in spots without expectation. Personally I think I raise the turn, but without reads I cant say for sure.

Getting threebet on the turn would suck, I guess you could find a fold there if he threebet.
Getting threebet on the river though, you can definitely find a fold.

Yep, and we wouldn't fault you if you raised either.

But it makes the other guy in the pot cold call 2 which will help us get the hand HU going into the river. Getting 3bet on the turn is no worse than getting 3bet on the river. Raising the river without expection or knowing where we are at sucks even more.

Getting 3 bet on the turn is WAY worse than getting 3 bet on the river because we HAVE to call a turn 3 bet.

Raising the turn is WAY worse than raising the river, since we will possibly force hands to fold that we could get another 1-2 bets from.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

Why do we have to call a 3bet? If we get 3bet doesnt that pretty much mean we are behind and we save a bet in the process?

Also, folding to 3-bets heads up on the turn is not something you should do very often because it encourages your opponents to take shots at you. This plus good odds makes it almost always correct to call a turn 3-bet in these situations.

First off, if a guy calls a flop raise then donks the turn I severly doubt hes 3 betting us. If we get 3 bet in a passive game, and we have a 10-1 what 4 cards can we hit that will win the pot?
