Default Suggestions for playing in NL $2 Max tables?

I am somewhat new to poker and I have just started an account on Paradise Poker. I have not played online poker for real money. But I am thinking about it. What advice or suggestions do you have for me before I should consider playing at these tables?

I play these tables at Pokerstars and I have found two ways to win at them.

    (1) Tight-aggressive aggressive - Basically, play only premium hands or 19 hand poker (all pocket pairs, AK AQ AJ KQ KJ QJ), raise PF and make them pay for drawing. Be careful if you raise PF on AK and the flop comes 842 rainbow - the fishies will play anything and may have 2 pair or some other bs.

    (2) tight passive-passive: If I understand it right, this is counterplay. Again, play only premium hands, but let the fishies do the bidding for you. If you have the nuts, call their bets. If you don't, check/fold.

Anyway, you have to play tight. The fishies play any two cards and will push PF with any two cards, so you have to have the nuts.

Also, I'm basically a noob. I only have 2k hands in ring games, so these are just my noob .02 cents.

Most imporant is USE BANKROLL MANAGEMENT RULES.

If you stick to 0.02/0.04, it won't cost you much money to learn and its more fun/effective than play money.

If you just camp full tables using starting hand requirement described on FTR, theres no reason you should loose your 300 BB(12$ for 0.04)

I would advise you to deposit 12$, then keep on play 0.04 until you reach 30$, then keep on 0.10 until 60$, then keep on 0.20 until 150$. If you go below 150 BB, move down a limit.

    This process will:
#1 get you a decent BR for other games like SNG and NL whitout investing too much money out of your pocket
#2 teach you the game and get you used to it, work out your skills/patience
#3 Make your "learning fees" as minimal as possible, see none

Your % of hands played should be below 25%.

Overall, even if your play aint that good at first, its normal. BUT USE BANKROLL MANAGEMENT NO MATTER WHAT.

Isnt he talking about playing No-Limit?
I think you need to put in AT LEAST $20 to start at $2 NL.
$40 would be better and i think most sites seem to have a $50 minimum deposit rule anyway.

    Default Paradise

    Heya Pough:

I play on Paradise, and have done so for about 2.5 years. Most of that time was wildly undisciplined and drunken play on all sorts of different limits and game types.

I've been playing the $2NL tables exclusively for about 7000 hands now. Sober, too. I've been using a 19 hand starting strategy and am pretty much "tight/passive/passive" and I am doing all right.

    Just over 10 BB/100.

I'm playing these limits because it is very comfortable psychologically (that is money-wise) and it's a great way to see if you can play winning poker for not too big a risk.

I triple table, and that is pretty easy when you play only one limit.

Indeed, check out Aok's counterplay post, 'cause that's pretty much what I'm playing. Loads of morons at these tables who'll play with all kinds of junk and you'll often find players that just bluff way too much.

    Good luck, mate.

P.S. What's your handle at Paradise? (Oh, if you try to chat and I don't answer it's not because I'm rude, it's because my chat privileges were disabled about a year ago. I have "anger management" problems, shall we say).

Thanks for the advice guys, I appreciate the hospitality

This is my first time playing online, and so far Im doing pretty good. I do run into a lot of idiots who play extremely agressive. But overall, its a great way to practice and learn without spending too much.
