    Default 2 Key MTT hands

These two hands are from a Live $20.00 buyin weekly tournament - 30 to 40 people play. I rate myself as a solid patient player, but I'm missing some key ingredient to bring it up a notch. I would like to hear how a winning player would play these hands:

    Hand 1 :

    Blinds are 400/800 :

    I'm Dealer with 7200 chips

5 players at table - 11 left in tournament.

    SB had around 13000 chips
    BB had around 6000 chips

SB is a solid player - very tight early game - but loosening up late game.
    BB is a maniac.

I have A-K offsuit on the button - everybody folds to me - I bet 2400

    SB calls
    BB calls

    Flop : 10-7-4 rainbow

    SB goes all-in
    BB calls

    Dealer - ????

    Hand 2 :

    Final table :

    6 players left - top 5 pay

    Blinds : 800/1600

    I'm BB with 4800 chips
Dealer has 600 chips left !

    I get A-9 suited

UTG has a huge stack, is a weak player who bluffs a lot and is bullying the table. To get to where he is, he's obviously been running good.

He raises to 3200 - everyone folds to me.

What do I do (If I win the pot - I'll have 3rd largest stack on table) ?
Previous hand he made same raise with A-7 offsuit .

    Thanks in advance,

    Martin

SB could well be doing a Stop and Go, but that's very risky against 2 opps. I'd consider calling if it was just him, but as soon as the BB called, you are behind and down to 6 outs, some of which could be tainted.

    Hand 2
So, you have 4800 and then post 1600 leaving 3200 and he raises to 3200? You are in a world of hurt really soon if you lay this down. Your stack will be useless as you will be called by anyone (since it will only be 2xBB). You must go all-in here and cross your fingers.

Hand #1: <10BB, don't raise, push. If they have a pair you want to see all 5 streets to improve, if they don't you want all their chips in when you're ahead. Either way they're liable to fold if an A hits the flop. The blinds are 1/6 of your stack, so even if they both fold it helps you.

Hand #2: You're down to 3 BB, that hurts. As you read FTR you won't end up in this position.

As it is, easy fold. It's very possible BB gets knocked out, and you're ITM. Push with any two cards, next two hands if it is folded around to you.

How many chips do you start with, 500? It doesn't sound like the best set-up.

    Hand 1 - fold

Hand 2 - push. You probably should have pushed before this, though. I'm not paying the blinds with that stack. Unless 5th is a payday I'm happy with. In which case I guess you fold here.

You can't fold AK first in at this blind level. Push both hands preflop.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

That was my initial reaction too. I think drmc meant "Push pre-flop. As played fold post-flop"

lol - I believe drmcboy was actually answering the specific question when he said fold in hand 1. The question was whether to call an all-in and a called all-in with AK on a raggedy T hi board. As played, he should fold.

The push preflop advice with only 9xBB and on the FT bubble is dead on.
