Default Full ring vs 6 max

Which do you prefer and could you explain why.

I've always went with full ring. But my reasoning is I just dont like the blinds comming around so quick. The times I have played 6 max though, I've mostly done well.

Also for bonus hunting purposes I always figured full ring stood a better chance of producing a rake at 25NL.

    25/50's f'in hard!
6-max is much more swingy and difficult (the opps are way better) than 10-max. At least this is true for 200+ NL
    BR now: $106900
Playing now: $10/10/20 - $20/40 NL live, $10/20 NL full ring online, $10/20 NL 6-max online, $20/40 FL 6-max online, $100/200 FL live
Goal: $125000 for $25/50 NL live

I thought most people on here feel the opposite is true at up to 100nl. It might be more aggressive, but not necessarily more difficult....Fnord, UG??

6max is quicker for bonuses. More hands per hour and people are more willing to call raises and play big pots. It might be closer at 25NL depending on min. rake, but as you move up it's definitely true.

More thoughts about full vs. short:
I believe that 6max takes more postflop skills because you are usually playing with and against a wide range of holdings despite any preflop raises. You are making delicate decisions very often. This is why it is very profitable for good decision makers, but also very swingy. More often than full ring you are making plays that don't seem mathematically correct, but based on reads you make them.

I suggest that if you want to take a shot at it, you start one or two levels below your bankroll and only play one table. If you are b0nus whoring, you should stay with full until you get more comfortable. Otherwise, you may lose the bonus and then some before you earn it.

    Thanks for the insight.

At 10nl I have been playign full because there more chance for the pot to get to $1 and be raked so I can clear my bonus, I would be playing 6max if i was at a BR to play 25nl to clear the bonus.

I've found 6max to be swingier, but also more fishy - people seem to think that being slightly shorthanded gives them the right to see way more flops than they should be seeing.

    Downswinging holla!
6 max may have a little more variance, but if you are better than your opponents you have that many more chances to make better decisions than them, and you will find that 6 max is more profitable long term than full ring.
