Yeah I got absolutely no idea what this guy might have had. Im thinking aces or kings. I know I have overcards here and its only $4 more to call on that large of a pot, but I just cant see how catching either an A or a K would put me ahead here. I think he called with a PP and hit a set, or had Aces / Kings. Maybe he had Queens / Jacks and the call would have been warranted.

I dont know I'm lost. What do you think?

If my opponents are giving too much post-flop action, I call pre-flop.

If I re-raised pre-flop and c-bet, then I would probably check the turn behind.

I ran into a similar situation and just checked behind.

He showed high card king. 87 off.

It was the very first hand so I know he didnt have a read on me.

Should I have bet more on the flop? Did I just get unlucky with some donk calling me off with bottom pair?

In the first hand, I think your flop bet was a little large. After you got called you need to shut down because it's fairly obvious he isn't going anywhere.

Second hand, I don't like the raise with the AJ in EP at a full table. It is a trap hand and I frequently fold it from early position, sometimes even from middle position if the table has been loose. KQ is the same kind of hand, I generally am very cautious playing that hand I don't like to call any raises with it unless it's a button or CO raise. At the level you are playing at, there's no reason to bet that flop. If somebody has a king you're playing catch up, and even if somebody calls with bottom pair you can't be confident your hand is any good. You are building a big pot without much of a hand against a table full of calling stations, don't bother. You don't have to bet out on every flop you raised pre-flop either, I like to keep the pot small and try and see a cheap showdown in this type of situation.
