Thanks for the tips, any further advice?
Thanks for all the advice and tips, guys. From a starting bankroll of $200 I built it up to a profit of $1200 at NL $1/2 within 5 weeks of part-time play by following the advice of contributors to this forum. Lately though I’ve been losing with big hands and have slipped back to $800 profit – AA loses to 65s which became a flush despite my dropping the hammer preflop; KK and QQ lose to QQ and JJ respectively which become trips after preflop all-ins; AKs loses to A4o on a flop of A93 when a four comes on the river despite the hammer drop; 22 which makes trips on the flop loses to QQ which becomes trips on the river. So it is time to take a break as clearly my cards are being outdrawn and I want to avoid tilting, something else I’ve picked up from you guys. I feel I’ve played all these hands correctly – I couldn’t believe my all-in with AK was called by A4, so I can take something from the fact that I played it right. I’d certainly have dumped the A4 if I had held it.
One piece of advice, though. The hardest hand to detect, I find, is hidden trips (i.e. pair in the hole with the third on the board). I’m always wondering what hand a player might have when he stays in but spotting trips is difficult. Some players slow play this, even when there is a possible draw on the board which I think is inadvisable. Any tips on how to spot hidden trips?
