    Default Pokerstars Question

Every once and a while, I think, "Darn, I would have won that hand". Then, I realise that might not be true. Are the cards on Pokerstars randomised before any cards are dealt, or are they randomised as they are dealt? If it's before, then I "would have won the hand", but if it's after, it could have been any random card. Does anyone know?

I would say that per the rules of poker, it has to be before....the deck is not shuffled mid-hand when playing live, nor should it be online. But who knows

    It doens't matter.

Just focus on making the right plays at the right time

Does it really matter? Random is random. As long as you're folding is the right decision based on what you know, what happens after is immaterial.

There was a pro who recently wrote an article about how it is pointless to demand a redeal after a mistake in dealing. As long as everyone shares the same information, it's just as fair. Everything's just as random if we deal from the top, middle, or bottom of the deck (or even reshuffle between each street), so long as the dealer isn't pulling anything. Who cares if Stars reshuffles during the hand? They aren't doing it to stack the deck.

For the record, I've heard that PokerStars is constantly shuffling the deck.

But you should never let things like this even cross your mind when playing poker.

I asked this same question a while ago, back when I was just a wee beginner and was entertaining the thought of it being rigged.

Someone else wrote a letter to PS, and they responded saying that it is shuffled once before the hand and all 5 board cards are thus chosen at the same time. Thus, there is no shuffling after the flop or the turn. If I can find a link, I'll post it.
