I the second one was a good fold. You don't have a completed hand and its only a 4 outer. good fold IMO

Edit: Sorry, didn't see the flush draw. Tough one. I would still fold since you have an unmade hand but calling is not terrible. It just a gamble.
    Stakes: Playing $0.10/$0.25 NL

    1) Because this is Beginners I'm assuming this i a small buy in tourney, don't pull moves like this too often. Too many calling stations. If you do do it you need to raise preflop. On the flop you want them to put you on AQ or KQ, with no PFR they wont believe you.

    2) You have an open ended straight flush draw to a possible nut straight or first/second nut flush. For half your stack and probably all of it, its a folder.

Hand 1: The bluff would be better set up with a nice preflop raise. Also, I figure the other guy was on a busted flush draw

Hand 2: Minbetting, although half the pot, still shows weakness... your semibluff needed to be a little bit stronger. You have a ton of outs. Even against KK you have ~40%

Do you think he should have called?

I'm just interested in your thoughts because I would have folded this.

Hand#1: I think it is way too early in the tournament to pull a bluff like that. However if you did it bet harder on the turn. Assuming he is on a draw dont give him pot odds to call on the turn.

Hand #2: Fold preflop. After the flop its a tough decision but I would still fold

The fold is good, wasn't saying it was bad. I reread my post and realized that's how it came out.

Well first of all it doesnt matter what "cards" you have to bluff. It is what cards your oppenent thinks you have. In the first hand it looks like he was after the flush and probably your king high may be good.

Raise preflop to show strength. You smooth call in bad position.

Keep on playing and post hand histories to get analyized.

    Fold preflop in both hands.

No need to try to bluff early in a tournament.

Second hand is a textbook fold, nowhere near correct pot odds to make the call.

anyone who thinks that you don't have pot odds with an open ended straight and flush draw is wrong. You have at least 40% equity here, and may have as high as 60%.
The only reason you should fold here is because you are risking all your chips. If the chip counts were reversed, I put my opponent all in.

In hand one, bet more. For a bluff to be successful, you need to put in bets your opponents won't call. About the size of the pot should be good. As it stands, it looks like you had the best hand with a pair of 2s. Be careful thinking that you are making successful bluffs, when you are really accidentally value betting. This will lead to making unsuccessful bluffs far too often.
To win in poker you only need to be one step ahead of your opponents. Two steps may be detrimental.

In the second hand you have about 15 outs (assuming he has two pair, a set or AK) with 46 potential cards to come. You haven't risked a lot of your stack but you'll be bust if you lose this hand. Fold.
