    Default Starting online poker

Alright, I'm about to turn 19 and am looking to get some extra money for the upcoming semester.

I have a couple of problems though:

First off, I can't get onto the IRC channel because of the error message and opening the ports doesnt fix it. I saw the thread about it and I think we should definitly move to gamesurge.

Second, how will I deposit money onto the sites? I believe that neteller wont work because I don't have a credit history. I don't know too much about firepay.

Also I want to deposit 100 dollars. I think I'm good for party's 5+1 SnGs, Pokerstars .1/.2 Limit, or Paradise's 2 NL. I think the max deposit bonus I can get is around 35 dollars. Which site do you think is the best to start on?

I originally thought party because of all the fish but after watching a few SnGs I'm unsure if I can mentally handle the swings to start off.

Pokerstars has the best interface I think but they also seem to have the least fish.

Paradise I think has a minimum age requirement of 21 so that may be an issue (but I heard that they don't enforce it).

Don't play the party 5/1, the rake is not g00t. Plenty of fish everywhere at the 5 level. I love PS.

    Hawklet:

You've already done your homework! You know how much you can deposit and what sites accommodate that bankroll.

Either Stars or Paradise are good choices, IMO.
Stars has the better players, and the better software.
Paradise will offer you an initial deposit that Stars doesn't, though.

I would TRY neteller anyway. I didn't see anything about a credit check in their T&C. They're not offering you credit anyway. You have to deposit money before you can do anything with it. If you find you are UNABLE to get a neteller account, post again and we'll make other recomendations.

for security purposes, they seem to use your credit history to verify that you are who you say you are. i recall being asked to select from a list of cities that i had some connection to, and several of my previous hometowns were on the list.

but as long as you have a checking account, i think you should be able to get a neteller account. pls let us know if you can't.

you don't need a credit history to get a neteller account, just a checking account. I don't have any credit either, I'm a broke college kid in debt to pay tuition, and i have a neteller account that works fine. they're great for bonus whoring.

    Okay,

I opened a neteller account and it got locked right after. I called support and they said it was because I don't have a credit history.

I am leaning towards Paradise Poker right now because of their 2 NL. I beleive that I'm over bankrolled for it but it would be a good place to start.

Hmmmmm. Sorry to misdirect you then, Hawklet.

You do have a checking account, though, right? If not open one tomorrow, dude!

Have you ever gotten a credit card offer in the mail? If so, the next one you get (which has a no fees):
    You sign up.
You charge one thing THAT YOU CAN AFFORD.
You pay the bill in full as soon as it comes (not just the minimum).
You call the CC and close the account and cut up the card itself.
Viola....you now have (good) credit history.

In the meantime, look at Paradise poker and find out what other deposit methods they accept. Firepay and others move money directly from your checking account.

You definitely will want a Neteller account if you're going to play much poker, but that can come later.

    Okay,

I used my checking account to get Neteller up and running. Thanks for the help!

I have 100 dollars in it which makes me over bankrolled for Paradise 2 NL but under bankrolled for Paradise 10 NL. Is there a site that offers a 100% deposit bonus so that I can bonus whore my bankroll up to 10 NL?

Full Tilt offers a 100% bonus but it takes 16 dollars in rake for every dollar cleared.
GamesGrid offers 1000% but clearing it seems just as bad.

Are there any sites that offer a 100% bonus that are easier to clear?

Also how strict is paradise on it's 21 min age policy?

Hey, good on you for taking up online poker. With your attitude and research I'm sure you'll be a success... as for me, I've only been in the game for a month, but I've just been through exactly where you are.

    Here's how I did it:

$100 deposit to Paradise Poker (normally only 25% bonus but if you use bonus code 'GRANNY' you can get 50% up to $100: I got it from the FTR forums and it worked when I did it)

You prolly want to clear the bonus on fixed limit (0.5/1 is ideal). In fact, I'm a fixed limit ring player and it works for me. It's the best game to learn for clearing bonuses.

I then went to Gaming Club, followed by Party (bonus code 'REAL$100' gives you 50% up to $100 so you only need a $200 deposit instead of a $500 deposit), Pacific, Empire, Bet365, Paradise again, Party reloads etc.

But here's how I'd do it if I were you:

Take your $100, and dump it into PlanetLuck Casino, play $1600 worth of Blackjack (make $2 bets), fill in the survey, withdraw, do it again at Starluck, then take your money to Bet365 for a $200 bonus, do their $50 poker bonus too, and then you have a proper bankroll for poker.

Alright, things are working out well now. I'm grinding it out at 2 NL on paradise for the moment. Thanks for all the help!

I just found a website online though thats part of instant bankroll. Its called Poker Source Online. It seems like sort of a rake back thing but they dont give you cash back, they let you redeem it for prizes. It seems pretty appealing. Has anyone else tried this? Is it worth it?

(Sorry if talking about this is incorrect on this forum, Mods can edit it as they like if needed)
