Tourny buyins

I had a quick question on buyins...ive been playin poker for lil over a year but im just starting to get into tournament playing. Well i was wanting to enter a tourny online and the buyin will say something like $20 + $2 or wutever the amount is..so is that $2 like a entry fee or something? thanks

Yes, the $2 goes to the site, the $20 goes into the prize pool.
