Default how do you handle this situation.

you get pocket J's in the hole, UTG, you raise, everyone folds around to the BB, who calls .

rainbow rags lower then your pair, oponnent checks, you bet, the villian calls, turn, nothing higher then a jack pops, he checks, so you bet again, your opponent calls... ace pops up, opponents bets, you call, he flips over A5o

so i need to know from the experts, how do you not berrate this player for bad play ?? i keep talking smack after this situation and then he leaves

just say nh and add them to your buddy list. get your money back at a later time. you want people calling you down with ace high no kicker.

Agreed, so long as you don't go on tilt it might be easier to get your money back by staying quiet and letting them repeat the same mistakes...

You dont berate this opponent because you are compensated for those times when you have AK or AQ and he bets into you on the river and you can raise. In fact, in your described hand, Sklansky would argue you won because your opponent violated the Fundamental Theorem of Poker. If he had known your hand all along, he should have folded, and should have check/raised the river. These hands are super frustrating but if it weren't for players like these, there wouldn't be money for the taking out there.

Learning to smile and appreciate the long-term +EV of these guys comes with playing a few thousand more hands.

man i HATE it when someone gets rivered by a fish and then berates the fish to the point that the fish LEAVES the table. where the hell do you think your money comes from in the first place -- the good players???

what *I* want to know is, what can i say to shut down the "table coaches" who verbally assault bad players? this seems to happen almost every day and i never know how to handle it. i can't say "hey don't scare away the fish" because then the fish will realize they are fish and i am a shark. sometimes i just say "hey you play your way, and let him play his" or even make make fun of the "expert's" short stack. but then i get attacked and end up in a verbal war that puts me on tilt.

    suggestions appreciated.

p.s. calling that river bet in a tiny heads up pot seems -EV to me. when a fish wakes up, it's time to hit the muck. he probably flopped a 5 and rivered two pair.

One thing I would suggest about this is to add the "table coach" to your buddy list too. One thing I have noticed is that almost every single person that I see regularly berate bad players is also an overall losing player according to my poker tracker stats for them

after that happeened and the fish left, i made a healthy gain because everyone was scared to get into a pot with me.
