Default absolutely crazy player...elky on pokerstars

i was bored so i decided to browse around and watch some of the high rollers play in the $10/20 NL ring games.

after watching one of the tables for a few minutes (where a particular player named "elky" was just dominating the table) i decided to check out the other 10/20 table and.....there he was again, at the 2nd table w/ a healthy chip lead.

i became curious and did a search on him to see all the tables that he was playing in atm and much to my suprise, he was playing at FIVE tables all at the same time.

the thing is, these 5 tables weren't $20 or even $50 SnGs (even though i still would be impressed if somebody COULD do 5 table $50 SnGs)

he was sitting at TWO $10/20 ring game tables w/ 7k and 5k at each table (the max buyin is 2k). he was also sitting in TWO 1k SnGs and doing quite well in both. and last but not least, he was at the final table of a $109 rebuyin MTT w/ a prize pool of 45k (and ended up placing 1st).

ALL AT THE SAME TIME. this completely blows my mind. i couldn't even keep up with all the actions at all the tables.....and i was just WATCHING.

amazing. i have to say, i am inspired.

I feel like a huuge nerd saying this, but I kinda know who this guy is. He was once a professional StarCraft player (a computer game). He was one of the first people to come to South Korea (where the game is huge) and be a pro outside of the Koreans. He has since faded off and now plays poker full time. Here is his pokerblog:

I can't escape from my past.

i played starcraft and broodwar back in the day as well

do you think the reason he can do so many tables all at the same time is due to his past of playing starcraft? (you know how you have to multi-task in starcraft...especially if you play zerg...)

the thing that amazes me, is that he was actually doing extremely well while doing all 5 tables at the same time. such high stakes. you would expect him to at least sit out on the ring game for a few minutes while he finished going heads up against another guy on the MTT, but no.....continues to play all of them, lol

He won the Euro Cyber Games in 2003 and won World Cyber Games: France in 2004, so he represented France in the popular WCG 2004.

heh, i played zerg back in the day. was ranked 16th on ladder during my peak of play. :P

i think he only speaks french and korean....so that may be why he's never been seen near english forums.

you guys should definately check him out sometime though. don't take my word for it, watch for yourself. do a search for "elky" on stars, he'll probably be at some table grinding away, lol.

I figure, what the heck... guy's playing at 4 MTTs and 3 SnGs right now. Maybe I'll watch a bit.
I think I know what I was thinking about.

Haha, I've played with Elky many times, including a ring game and SNG with him today. I thought this thread would be about his play style, because he is crazy aggressive at times, late in MTTs.

Its much tougher to become competitive in real time strategy games compared to poker. It took me almost a year to become a good warcraft player, compared to poker which I was clearly beating from day one.(well at low tables anyhow)

Also with RTS games, it's a lot like sports. You have to practice constantly to stay at the top of your game.

there's a guy on vcpoker, jorgejuan, he multi tables 5 cash games (3-6, 5-10 NL)with 3-4 MTTs if they are running.

I see why elky and others are busting heads online,
I tried to play a few tables to see if i could handle the focus

I did better playing 3 tables then i did 1 for one simple fact....i didnt try to bluff, hardly seen flops...but the flops i did see i hit almost everytime

i was only playing on fake money tables...but hell i got up to 90k in 20 minutes.Cant wait till my bank card comes in and so i can see how much i can make with real money playing the .25/.50 tables with 3 tables going at once

try playing 4 sngs when you are on the bubble for all of them.

    THAT = crazy.
