Default Just have to vent a little

I have moved up to .25/.50 after I reached $1000 in bankroll. I´ve been hovering metween $1000 and $1200 for some time (a week or two) after I moved up and I currently have about $1080, after losing a buy-in against slowplayed rockets

It just seems to me that if my session will be profitable or not comes down to one or two hands with big pots, and if I was lucky in that pot or not. For example, this morning I was +$80 which felt pretty nice. Then when I thought about it, there was one hand where I pushed on flop with a nut flush draw and two overs (AcQc), got called by AK and hit the flush on river. That was a $40 pot, so if that club wouldn´t have hit, I would have been breaking even. Thinking about that, all my struggle felt so meaningless, I sat for an hour or two at three tables and my only profit came from a hand where I wasn´t even the favourite.

I think it´s time soon to buy pokertracker. I just want someone/something to tell me "this is how much you earn per hour of play/per 100 hands" so that I can feel that every time I sit down playing, I´m actually winning. Yeah, I have a trouble dealing with swings. No, I won´t quit playing poker because of that.

Swings are affecting my mood too much. Now, after this loss, I´m feeling blue. This morning, I was one happy guy. Also, it´s affecting my study discipline, cleaning the apartment discipline, working out discipline etc: when I have had a winning streak, I don´t want to study, I want to play more and win more! But after a losing session, poker just makes me feel bad and I become a normal not-addicted-to-poker person (so now I hope I can study or my exam this saturday).

At the same time, when I really look at the numbers - the most I have ever had in my bankroll is $1170 and now I have $1083 - it doesn´t feel that bad. My bankroll feels pretty solid. So why do I get all depressed when I lose some? It´s not like it matters much. What will I be able to do with a $1170 BR that I can´t with a $1083 BR? Isn´t it all profit? Yes! I should be happy for my thousand dollars won but I´m not!

There must be an optimal timepoint to buy pokertracker. When you´re beginning and poker tracker costs half your roll, it´s not good to buy it. But I think I have passed that optimal point by far now. I´m gonna go ahead buy it.

    Hi Waggho,

I think it's time to get Poker Tracker. I got it too early, I think, and some of my early fishy play affects my stats so I shift preferences to, like, the last 3 months or so to see how I'm doing with my current style of play. You'll be amazed at all the info you get and it has helped my change my style of play, along with the great advice I have received on this super forum.
Sharky: I've got good news and bad.
    me: what's the good?
Sharky: we all voted you Most Valuable Player!
    me: what's the bad?
Sharky: It was at our weekly poker game!

You better watch your play if you are taking this many emotional ups and downs over small losses or wins. If you continue this these emotions will start to seriously hurt your bankroll.

Remember there is nothing wrong with sitting at a table for an hour and leaving up $5... not all wins have to be 50% of your buy in or more.

    himself fucker.
A profitable session does come down to one or two big pots.

The rest of the time it's fighting over moderate pots with AQ and KQs. The moderate pots add up, but it's the one or two big pots that make a session.

Yep I agree 100%. I think all the little pots ur fighting over comes out to minimal + and if you just look at all your big ass pots and big ass losses that where is your getting almost all your profit. Of course I have no poker tracker so I dont know if it works out like this for me or not but I think it does.
