Default Full House versus 4 of a kind

Is it possible to not lose your entire stack if you flop a full house and your opponent flops 4 of a kind?

In a tournament game, I am dealt pocket 10s. I raise 3-4bb and get 2 callers. Flop comes 7 10 7. I bet a little less than pot sized get 1 caller. I figure he is on a draw, with 2 suited cards on the board. I bet on turn (x card) again pot sized, river (x card) I bet he raises me all in for only a couple hundred more. The pot was at about 4k or so, and the final re raise was for about 500.

    What did I do wrong?
old total profit: about $450 or so

goal before school starts (8/20): $1k more

sounds like a pretty fishy play, calling that size bet... you might re think this read.

    A 7? 10 7? no reason to think it's quads. maybe even 2 pair.

Nothing. bet full houses. as much as you think they will call. this will probably only happen once in a zillion hands so, you're good for a few years now.
    Noooooooooooooooo!!

you didn't pray for your opponent to not hit quads. honestly, not much you can do if you flop a fullhouse and your opponent flops four-of-a-kind. If your opponent went allin on the flop, are you telling me you would fold that? If you say yes, go kick yourself. And plus, you still have one out.

You may be more cautious if the board had been 10, 10, 7, J and you had pocket 7's, but not when you have 10's and the board is 7, 7, 10. It can be dangerous when you make a full house with a pocket pair when your pair is lesser in value than the board pair, but in this case you have almost no reason to be worried. You want to gamble for all your money in this situation.

    well lets see....

wongway shows [ Kc, Kd ] four of a kind, kings.
m_mathers_69 doesn't show [ Ah, As ] a full house, Aces full of kings.
wongway wins $35.3 from the main pot with four of a kind, kings.

    i guess not

If you don't lose your whole stack on that hand, you are one of these two things:

    1. tighter than a baby monkey's anus
    2. endowed with the all-seeing, all-knowing power of Jahweh

No crying over this hand - you had an awesome, like 1-in-a-thousand flop and someone else hit their 1-in-a-million at the same time. (Note: not the actual odds, but it gets the point across.)

Did you ask him if he had 4-of a kind before putting your chips in the middle?

Seriously though, Sometimes the reaction can give you a good read. Like if he says nothing your screwed.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

To be honest him having 4-of a kind was the last thing on my mind when I was playing. I was just happy to have hit my boat, and didnt really consider that he could even have had quads. Oh well, hopefully that wont happen for another few years or so.
