Urika! Table Selection.
So I lost half my roll over 5 hours playing on Saturday.
Today I won half of it back in 20 minutes while eating my lunch. I tell ya, I wanted to call work and tell them I was taking the afternoon off! This table was amazing. It was the most passive table I've ever seen. Raises were rarely called. And then if they didn't fold on the flop, they folded on the turn.
Now I'm a tight player. I've sworn off bluffing almost completely--at least until I get a little better at this game and especially at reading other players. But my last hand was 2-7. I called a 2.5x raise with three others. Q 8 5. The RAISER, who was in EPosition checked the flop, I bet 1/2 the pot and showed my rags when I took it down and said 'goodbye'.
THE POINT. If this was always my table, I'm sure I could win consistently. But I don't have a good strategy for selecting tables. Really my only strategy is to sit down, and then just leave if the table, or even one player, is giving me trouble. If there's a maniac or just someone who is aggressive on more than their fair share of pots, I'm outta there.
I play 10-seated NL, but only up to .25/.50 blind tables. There are a huge number of players at these low limits and I don't find myself against the same opponents very often. I have been reluctant to watch a table before sitting down because someone often takes the only seat.
What are some good strategy for getting myself at tables like this again! :P
