When you first go to sit down at a table, is it better to have tight or agressive players to your right and vice versa? Why?

You'd prefer aggressive players to act before you most of the time so you don't have to worry about them coming over the top of your bets or raises. The better and more aggressive a player is, the more you'd prefer to have them acting ahead of you.

Agreed. And having tight players to your left allows you to check raise and "buy" pots from them. Since they aren't going to do anything risky. And if they come back at you. You know you may be beat.

I usually look for a NL table with 7 players, check their stacks and sit to the left of the biggest one. This is the guy you're worried about, whether he's tight or agressive(which are not opposites, by the way)and for the rest of the action, he'll have to act before you.
