    Default raising

i was playing a 5+1 , 3 table tourny, not that that part really matters, but i got someone yelling at me for raising all the time. does this make any sense or do i just have them on tilt?
and thank you for all the info and adivce i have learned here. it has tremendiously helped my game.

oh, my "excessive raising" put them on tilt and they went all in to me the next hand and i took all their chips

so what are you asking us exactly?
"Is there any chance I'm going to lay this 9-high baby down? That's really not my style."

    You ARE raising too much.
    They ARE on tilt.

Raising a lot works like this on occasion, but often gets you in the long run.
If a player isn't on tilt, he's gonna break you.

Id personally say that if you are playing a smart aggressive game and putting in timely raises it is alot better than taking on a weak passive game. If your raising bothers the opponents so much, and they do not know how to handle your style then good job!

EDIT - especially in a tournament situation in the right places with a solid stack. Keep them guessing and off kilter. Be ready to drop a hand if you need, and like everyone else says, when you connect with the flop people will not respect your raises and pay you off. Probably just like that guy in your example did.

First of all, what are you doing paying a 20% rake? I know it is only a dollar, but I can't stand to pay a rake above 10%. It just does not make sense. Play the $10+$1 to get the 10% rake. Secondly good job on the raises. If you got a guy pissed, make sure you write down his name, or log it into your buddy list, and come back and raise him some more later.

Ignore stupid comments in that chat box.

It's up to you how you play, not him

thank you, yes the more i thought about it your right i am raising to much overall, although i think the la stratagy will work for me once i get a better handle on playing it. about the rake, i never really thought about it that way and thank you. my bankroll is not quite big enough for the 10+1s atm but i think i will look into swiching my bankroll off of party poker for a better site rake wise.

'raising too much' is very hard to determine based on the info given....i am a proponent of being aggressive with hands, keeping the limpers and wannabees out of the hands....

go play in a brick and morter casino and you'll see how the dynamic of the game changes when limping in for blinds and hoping to catch something doesn't exist....make the chumps overcall flush/straight draws, call down huge bets with a pair hoping to improve....that will put them on tilt, force them to play a very tight game which is virtually transparent....

I try to play looser than a tight table, and tighter than a loose table...

    But be aggressive either way.

But then look at my sig and you can see how good I am

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?
