When there is someone better than you... An epiphany!
I sat down at a table (Party $25NL) and after starting to use some of the techniques learned here like blind stealing, "making them pay to play", "if it's good enough to call it's good enought to bet", "pre-flop bet followed up with post-flop bet", "punishing weakness but folding to strength", even bluffing out of the big blind, etc....
Although I have sticky note on my computer that says, "Fold the River". This is my biggest leak at the moment.
It was a remarkable feeling. I owned the table. Quietly doubling my stack. These quiet times were really boring to me once (too passive) but now they seem like quiet money earners when conditions are good.
Then another player sat down who is better than me. He starts milking it too. I look at his stack and start to go after him.
We trade blows and he takes a bit of my money and then leaves. Then I realised. "What am I doing?" Why didn't we just share and be friends? If I had folded when he was moving in (even when I had quite good hands) I would have kept quietly sharing the table with him until someone wised up.
He was a fine example to me of when I should leave a table too now.
