Default Why MTTs drive me crazy, and a question

I was playing a MTT at work and doing fairly well until I busted out on this hand where I made the right call with the wrong results.

Check out my flop bet. My hope was that my weak bet would get the opponent to come over the top of me, which he didn't end up doing until the turn. I called because I figured that he was doing what I hoped he would do on the flop, which ended up being true, but should I have saved the risk and just bet big on the flop?

    Wastin' away again in margaritaville....
Trips are nice to catch but with that flop there are a lot of card that can scare you on the turn in an unraised pot... K Q J 9 7 or a club (about half the damn deck). There's a double gutshot and the flush looming over you. In that position I will always bet to take away pot odds when there is a flush and strt draw on the board. If there was only a single ended/gutshot straight draw the risk might be worth weakbetting it.

personally i don't like the flop underbet, but your hand is almost unbeatable at this point...but still you don't want your opponent cheap chances to draw out on you.

Against most opponents I would not play the flop that way, but I fully expected this guy to come back over the top of me if I feigned weakness on the flop.

Yeah, it's true, and he did end up doing exactly what I wanted him to do. I was a 75% favorite to win at that point, so I guess I shouldn't even be worried about it.

You did bet it way too weak. A bet of 800 still looks rather weak, as its just what you bet preflop, and still could easily be a last ditch effort to steal a pot. Minbetting it after betting 4xBB preflop looks extremely obvious that you're slowplaying. I'd be putting you on AA or TT here, and would've called on the flop in his spot as you're laying him ridiculous implied odds, but obviously not shoved on the turn in his spot.
