I played for just over an hour last night at UB. I'm a pretty high-roller so I play three $.01/.02 NL tables at once I almost always end up ahead when I play, but last night seemed really, really good. Here are some of the hands I got ..... in an hour no less.

KK when another player had QQ - doubled up
KK when another player had AK - won a bunch
AA when another player had AK and K on the flop - won a bunch
KJ and the board went KxJJJ - though the boat was nice until the quads came on the river
A9 hearts - flop hhh
AT - trip 4s on the board - big bet, got called and won
99 - floped a set and took a huge pot over two big pair

I was able to clear just under $12 .... I know thats not a lot to some of you guys .... but to me ..... I'm going to disneyland

Anyway - here is a question for you: Tonight was the first time I played three tables at once. I've played two before, but usually just one. Is it normal to get this many good hands in an hour on three tables? My flop percentage was really low and I folded a ton. Maybe I'm just used to waiting 15 minutes between good hands at one table.

Also - I had no bad beats. I think this is because I was a little overwhelmed playing three tables for the first time so I folded almost anything and only played the nuts.

Is this what I can expect playing three tables, or was this a fluke?

I find that playing 2-4 tables at once forces me to play good hands, thus enabling me to lower my bad beats.

1) No, it's not normal, you were running good on several tables at once. Enjoy.

2) Consider sticking with 2 tables until you are comfortable with that and can get reads. Consider moving up too.

3) Playing more premium hands should result in receiving more bad beats, as you will be more often ahead when the money goes in. Lowering your bad beats is not always a good thing.

Fnord is right .... it wasn't normal. I tried the three table thing last night and didn't do nearly as well. The cards didn't come like they had before and I had to work hard just to stay even. Oh well, even is fine with me - I had fun doing it.

Fnord - can you explain #3 a little more .... I don't get it.

A Bad Beat is when you lose a hand despite putting in most of your money as a heavy favorite. Premium hands hit more flops harder than non-premium hands, hence you should be ahead more often on the flop. Having bad beats put on you is just part of playing winning poker. Hence, by playing tigher you should expect more bad beats against you and fewer for you.
