    Default getting no hands

What should one do when you get very little for hands/flops/etc?

Tonight I was playing at a free mtt at a local club and seemed like whenever I got a good hand, I'd raise pre-flop, and still get a couple of callers, but when the flop comes I get no part of it and have strong bets infront of me. The rest of the time I was getting crappy hands, and would throw away or limp in, and still get no part of the flop but a few low pairs. My best hand that I ended throwing away after the flop was a pair of 6's that showed up that turned into a set at the river, but others were throwing money around and figured there was an over pair(which there was). And had one big slick hand that hit a pair of k's, but ended up folding to a lady with a set of j's.

I know I should have started bluffing some/more but their were several players there that were basically calling whatever, and I was scared I'd lose my money even quicker.

By the time the blinds had moved to level 3, I was short stacked and ended up going all in on a K5 suited pre-flop, which I know isn't the best choice, but it was first non 29o, etc hand that I had in awhile and ran with it. Pocket 6's called and hit the set on the flop, though I did get a pair of k's on the river.

but what is the best thing to do when you're getting almost nothing for hands?

Politely ask for one of the used decks of cards after the tourney. Chant, make a plea to the poker gods and then burn them as an offering.

Seriously, nothing you can do, look for steal opportunities and fold the trash hands, just hope people notice you're folding a lot and fold to the times you do make steal attempts.
Poker is all about the long long long long long long long term . . .

What I would do if I get lower than average preflop, flop cards:

    1: With table-games
    (1) Switch tables. More times than not, I realize the dry spells are a comination of the ppl at the table and the hands you receive
    (2) Lower my goals to break even and quit poker that day. Normally I shoot for sizable profit when playing any given session.
    (3) At tighter tables, you can try betting a bit more looser. Especially good if your in position, but even out-of-position, you should be able to pick-up some extra hands just by betting more at tight tables
    (4) At loose tables. I would personally just switch tables. You could try overplaying your strong preflop hands (e.g. go allin with AA, KK). Sometimes a whole night of dry hands can pay off with a fish calling your all-in AA
    (5) If your online, try playing multiple-tables (2-3 windows open). I find if I dry-up on one, the other 2 are more than enough to make it entertaining.
    (6) I also have a tv tuner and a small resolution setting so I can play 3-tables and watch tv when play gets dry.

Personally, my stats show I fold 50-60% of the time. Having dry spells could also be a subjective view vs playing patiently
