    Default Hosting a Tourney

I'm hosting a no limit texas hold 'em tournament at my house in the near future, and was wondering if anyone has any advice.

    It's a $20 buy-in, and I'm estimating about 30 people.

What should the starting chip values be? And how often should the blinds increase?

This is my first tournament, so any information you guys could give me would be very much appreciated.

A good site for this is homepokertourney.com. He has a ton of info on hosting a tournament, downloads, etc.

I downloaded free program off there which has a timer for the blinds, etc. and it worked great for our last tourney.

I am having my first tournament the 7th, I will let you know how things went, and what things I might have done better/differently.

But yes, the homepokertourney.com is a great site for information about running one.

Yeah, I've checked out homepokertourney, and am actually undertaking the project of building one of the tables that they show. A great website indeed.
