Default How much do you bet the river here?

I think I'm showing too much mercy...

    Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.50 BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

    MP ($126.95)
    CO ($31.75)
    Button ($26.50)
    Fnord ($24.40)
    BB ($22)
    UTG ($32.95)

Preflop: Fnord is SB with A, 4.
UTG folds, MP calls $0.50, CO folds, Button calls $0.50, Fnord completes, BB checks.

    Flop: ($2) 3, Q, 4 (4 players)
Fnord checks, BB checks, MP checks, Button bets $2, Fnord calls $2, BB folds, MP folds.

    Turn: ($6) 2 (2 players)
Fnord bets $4, Button calls $4.

    River: ($14) J (2 players)
    Fnord bets ???

you might want to try a checkraise, or else come out with about a 5$ raise something like that is what i would do, there is a straight flush possiblility as well, albeit very slim chance of it

If he's got 5 6 , he can have my stack. If he doesn't take it, it's his fault.

I put him on a Queen (hopefully with a diamond) or a weak flush and worked from there...

I wouldn't try a check-raise in this scenario unless you are sure your opponent will bet. I'd throw out as much as half the pot trying to get a call. Hopefully he has a high diamond and will call or raise.

i think its a good time for a checkraise, act like the 4th diamond scared you, and maybe you had the made flush but now its too low, and if he has a single diamond he has you beat, and if he does have 1 high diamond he will surely bet and then you can come in over the top, if he doesnt have a diamond he isnt going to call the bet anyways.

I bet $6. He called and showed Kx, both diamonds. I was a little upset I didn't get his stack...

But the game that you are playing with a check-raise is not always profitable. You will be able to soak him if he has a QJ, a Qd, a Kd, or a few others.

But what if he has pocket 9s with one a diamond. Point is, I'd use the information, I had to judge on how big a bet to make. But I'd make a bet regardless.

With this hand my bet would have probably been $4. I would assume that he had something, but was chasing a flush. That way he could think I was trying to steal it and hopefully raise.

I think it worked out better as Fnord did it.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

Given that these guy's biggest weakness is that they call too much, I was thinking even $6 might be too small of a bet... Gotta love passive callers...

In retrospect, I like the play here. A more aggressive player raises with the king. A weak player calls on a little as a Queen.

Yeah, you really kind of got unlucky that this guy was controlled enough to just call. If he raised, you would've had his stack.

I agree you could've tried to check raise though too as well. Really depends on the player, and how much they'll bet on a hand like that.

If I'm him, though, I noticed that you increased your bet on the river. $2 more than the turn. You may have just wanted to bet $4 again, acting like you didn't have a diamond, and hoped he didn't either, or that you had two small diamonds. I'd definitely notice that increase if I were him, and there's no way I'd raise. But if you bet $4 again on the river, you'd be much more likely to get raised, and maybe you'd get calls from a lot lower hearts than Qs as well.

I would not have attempted the check-raise, I would have bet it.

I probably would have bet 3/4 to full pot amount and hoped for a re-raise.

I think it's better to make the bet and hope your opponent makes a poor decision. There's enough PartyPoker players who do that...

It was a disciplined call by the opponent.

Yeah, either bet big and hope he has a high enough heart to call, or bet what you did on the turn and hope he has a high enough heart to raise (which I'd think he would've done with a K, noticing that your bet did not increase). If he raised big, then you could shove all in.

I doubt it was a disaplined call, with it being party i'd guess it was more of a weak player whos scared soemone always has the nuts.
