AA in late position - hypothetical

this happened the other night when i was on the button with garbage, folded, and started thinking what if i had AA instead...

so, you're on the button with AA, UTG raises $3, 5 callers, the pot is now $15 and the action to you. do you:

a) raise $5 to fatten the pot and try to scare the drawers
b) call (asking for big trouble - but i thought i'd include it as a choice)
c) raise it to $25 to either take the pot preflop, or chase out anyone that doesn't have a big pair.

All-in. If its on partypoker, you're still going to get 1 or 2 callers anyways.

I would go all-in. I think the object is to get your money in when you have the best hand.

Raise to at least $12 with the intention of throwing the rest in on the flop. Pushing all-in is good too. Someone is likely enough to play traffic cop.

Definitely make a huge bet (pot-size or more). With that many callers, I would want to try to make as many of the players fold as possible.
With , I sometimes like to have 1 caller see the flop with me, then take him down on the flop.

Definitely don't slow-play the Aces pre-flop.

At some point you're going to have to take a chance in a SnG. It doesn't get much better than pre-flop with rockets.

Yeah. You'll lose once but the other 9 times you will have doubled or tripled your stack and be in great position to finish 1st or 2nd.

if anything, i would play this more aggessivelyin an SNG, playing on my opponents fear of busting out. plus, it is AA. you gotta go for it.

in either a ring game or tourney, in this scenario i would push all-in. and if everyone folded, it's still a nice pot and i wouldn't complain. in an SNG, this would almost amount to a triple up - can't beat that.

realistically, in the world that is party poker, i'd be surprised if there wasn't at least one caller.

No way I would slow play it. I don't want to give a cheap chance at cracking my nuts.

Re-raising less than pot here is suicide. With AA in an out of control pot you have very little feel for where you are in the hand unless you flop an Ace. The more I think about it, the more I like the pot size re-raise with the intention of pushing in on the flop.

My head tells me the correct play would be a bet size flop followed by a push on the flop. In reallity I'd be pushing all my money in PF and later realise it wasn't exactly the best way to play it. A slow play with this many callers would result in a very low % win in my eyes, theres is a big chance that the flop will hit one of the callers big.

SnG I'm pushing all in PF everytime, I'd rather take down a smaller pot then risk going broke.

I do like the 'image' feature, but to be honest with you I don't care for the interface and the fact the minis (9 player tourneys) have a lower payout than Paradise. On Paradise they are 10 players with slightly higher payouts

I like the 10 player setup better also. Did you notice the 2 table mini's at poker stars? It's 18 people on two tables. I have only played one and place 2nd , but i like the idea.

They also have turbo SnG's, the only difference is that the blinds go up every 5 mins instead of 10 mins. I'm not sure if I like these yet. But it is something different.

how does the 2 table thing work in terms of the players? do the two tables finish independently, and then the winners play each other?

They play independently until there are few enough players to form one table, then it goes down to one table. I believe they try and keep the tables even as well, so that there aren't 8 on one table and 4 on another.
