    Default mafia championships

maybe Ong knows more about this but there are Mafia championships going on, it involves players from different communities playing in big games.

idk how it works exactly but it's cool. i'd vote to send Gabe/Keith/Gator/Daven/Ong from FTR

everybody agrees i beat the piss out of you numbskulls on the reg, but not sure how id do against a different cast

id probably send keith or gator. they can handle a wide variety of tough situations, especially if they believe in winning at all costs

actually given the last game, keybored would be the best pick. fighting till your last breath is the most underrated skill. it's like how ong was very strong strategically for the wolves, but he was still in the process of giving up before keybored put the pedal to the metal

I'd send bigred. And maybe kiwimark.

I've only experienced FTR WW for the past few months and thought it was just something some folks here were doing for some fun side action. But I went to Baudib's link above and started reading the game rules and personal bios for the 26 players in the link above. Crazy! I had no idea WW/MafiaScum was so big. Reading their thread gives me a much greater appreciation and understanding for this game and for how people approach it (esp Baudib now). I have much to learn...

I wolfed with a guy from Team Liquid and he flat-out refused to use any werewolf vernacular (villager, wolf, seer). He went the whole game saying "mafia" "scum" "townie" "cop" and it drove me nuts.

Heh, reading through that makes me wonder how well we would fit in. Those guys are all tried and tested since they've put in so many games with so many roles; whereas the only time I was a wolf was like four years ago. I've got some pretty epic theories too, just never get much opportunity to use them

Magic is my favorite so far. Most correct bio IMO: "If you can make yourself believe in the bull**** you’re typing then so will everyone else."

That game is crazy. Day 1 is ~1000 posts, which isn't bad.

Somehow the village managed to put up a mason for D1 lynch, and the other mason soft-outed to cover him (like claimed he knew the guy was 100% vil and that guy knew he was 100% vil, but wouldn't elaborate and say "masons" or "lovers"). Seems like a bad move to me. I mean... let the one in trouble out himself. There's no need to blow the other one's cover at that time.

Then the village managed to actually lynch the Seer on D1. I can't blame them. The guy basically cleared someone he had N0 peeked, and then stopped posting. His strong read on 1 person so early in the game and disappearing act, while actively playing/posting in other games while he was slowly gaining votes in the champions game looked pretty off.

Then 3 NK's took out 2 vils and a wolf, with the wolf-vig taking out the guy confirmed by the seer.

All in all, pretty bad day for the village in a game of champions.

    Through day 2.

Better day for village. They managed to pull some late day vote hopping and nabbed a wolf for their efforts.

N2 results in dead vig (3x vig), but not before he dropped a 2nd wolf, going 2 for 2 with the shots he used. Solid. Much respect to Captain Binkles.

Also a VV was NK'd, presumably by Wolf vig.

NOT DGB- "If mods did not already say there are no 3rd factions, I would think Goof is a 3rd faction with some goofy wincon."
DGB- "My wincon is always to have fun."

Thanks for the links, though. I feel like my game has come up a of level on only 1/2 a read through of the first game. We'll see, though.

Wuf theory: villagers who play like wuf never lose (which means the championship village was worse than wuf). However, wolves that play like wuf never lose, even to villagers who play like wuf. So it's possible they're all better than wuf and the wuf-vils just got out-wuf'd by the wuf-wolves

And my philosophy has been revealed!!!
Poker is easy, it's winning at poker that's hard.

LOL I would have thought your philosophy is "shovel them enough bullshit and you'll have them be hogs at the trough"
  23. #23
That is true.. If you shovel enough bullshit people will have a hard time digging out of it.

I started looking through the thread of the recent game but HOLY SHIT!! Over 400 pages!!!

I asked the mod of the current game if we can be represented in the next one.

I'll probably get to be in as a liaison between POG-FTR. It'll help because one thing I noticed in the game is that the cultural differences are just enormous and a constant topic of conversation in the early stages.

YO! We're in for the next game. The next championship will probably run in February.

If any of you guys are interested in playing, I'd highly recommend getting your feet wet over at POG, at least to get a feel for the lingo, culture and playstyle. There have been 2-3 normal games running per month, and 1-2 mismashes.

I'd recommend getting into one of Top Tier Tom's V+ games, they're usually standard 13er or 17er games, with a seer, vig and 1-2 wolf specials.
