moving the thread to Beginners Circle. hopefully you'll listen if people bother to tell you why you're thinking is completely wrong.

my tip - it's long term, not short term. confirmation bias means you remember the shitty bad beats. as long as you keep getting it in good you will eventually win.

Too many people posting on FTR that don't know how to use punctuation.

Okay mervyn266 - i will give it a try on this.

First of all, if you want to be a succesfull pokerplayer, you have to stop having those bad attitude shoutouts. Second i recommend that you read about Bankroll Managment so that you can find out how to - in the long term, smash all those bingoplayers.

If your problem is losing to bingoplayers, then either your not focused enough nor have the will to play real poker or you dont know about Bankroll Managment. Want to win against bingoplayers, trust me, read about Bankroll Managment and why to use it.

Hope you trust me, ive won several tournaments from 1k$ and up to 14k$ so i hope that make you believe me.

    Gl in the future.

    Embrace the variance.

In short, when you are facing villains who shove light, you can call with a range that has less than 50% equity against Villain's shoving range, how much less depends on the pot odds. This means you will lose more pots than you win, but in the long term, you will win more money than you lose.

Learn the math that drives your decision when calling an all-in and you'll be making optimal plays in no time.

If you're sick of those kind of opponents, please do feel free to send them over to my games, and I'll send you some better players in return.

    Dear Abby,

My opponents suck and I don't know what to do about it. I posted on a forum complaining about it, but everyone just made fun of me. What should I do?

    Thanks,

Russia and Ukraine are East Europe.

lol at Russia being European. As proof, even Turkey is more likely to join the EU than Russia.
  12. #12
Russia is in both Europe and Asia. The EU doesn't define a continent.

technically, it's all one land mass called Eurasia.
  14. #14
But Eurasia isn't a continent either.

I'm glad we're giving this thread the respect it deserves.

That's totally arguable. More like Euro-centric geographers took one peninsula from the Eurasian landmass and called it another continent, for purely geopolitical and/or historical reasons.
  16. #16
Turns out there are models of dividing up the world into anywhere between 4 and 7 continents.
  17. #17
Really? I was under the impression that the continents are pretty well defined. Turkey and Russia are special cases in that they have territory in both Europe and Asia. There's probably others too. Maybe it's just what we're taught in British schools, idk.

    It seems you're correct.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boundar...een_continents

Stangely, it seems that in the strict definition of "continent", island nations, such as the UK, are not part of any continent. Awesome! Fuck off Europe!

IMO it only makes sense to talk about continents in terms of purely geological standpoint, instead of mishmashing it with geopolitical alliances.

And yes, Little Britain is an outcast that nobody really cares about any more ever since you got out of the empire business. No worries either, apart froma bit of oil up in Scotland there's probably very little rest of the world really needs from you. What do you have apart from a few super corrupt banks in London? You don't even have a manufacturing industry any more.*

    *totally unfounded.

**so I look you up and it turns out most of your export business comes from nuclear reactors. No wonder you're all so pro-nuclear!

***i see jaguars are still manufactured there, even though the company itself hasn't been in British hands for decades.

****best fish and chips i ever ate was in Brampton, Ontario. I also stole your scones recipe so what do you have left? That's right. Nothing.

What language are you speaking again?

    *cough*

Yeah we're a pointless island with a big mouth, that's what we've become. The language is all we have left to be proud about. Oh, and our cricketers. That's it.

I will admit that British wit is something that the world probably can't do without, now that I think of it.
  22. #22
That's true. Imagine a world without Monty Python. How terrible would that be? There would be more wars, more famine, more disease... we gave the world Python and you should all be thankful for it.

I'm guessing you play micro/low stakes on Stars. Why are you surprised of how bad the play is, that's where all the beginners play. At these levels you will get the most horrible beats of your life because of this. Just tighten up a bit and get it in with these 'fish' when you have/hit a big hand.

Pfft best fish and chips in the world is in Norfolk. Can't remember the village, it was either Stalham or Acle. And you can have our scones, just don't steal our crumpets.

Oh yeah we were talking about how bad players are on stars. Well that's great for me, seeing as that's where I play. Bad players are awesome.

Crumpets are a pretty mysterious food, that's true. I haven't the faintest how to make them. They in no way eclipse good scones, though. Add clotted cream, strawberry jam, cup of standard English brew - it's a good way to survive your weather.
  27. #27
I have no idea how to make crumpets either... I just buy them ready made and chuck them in the toaster, cover in butter and you have an awesome brekkie. I'm not a huge fan of scones... they're ok, but I can usually find something much nicer to eat... like crumpets. So yeah you can keep scones. And you can have all the clotted cream in the world for all I care, that shit is nasty. Yup, I went there.

It only looks like English in text. Really it's American. If you heard it, it would be obvious. You gave us a broken language with no 2nd person plural, and no in-fixes. How on earth you get by without being able to say, "Y'all are un-fucking-believable!" is beyond me.

You heathens have the audacity to call a flashlight a torch, as though it's a flaming stick. What have you been doing for the past 100 years?

Anyway, we took your broken language and fixed it. It's ours now. If you want it back, you have to say Al-u-min-um.

We all get frustrated when we lose to guys who are making bad plays and there is a tendency to refer to the as bingo players or donkeys. As a few others have pointed out in this thread playing against guys who make bad plays is good in the long run. Bingo players as you refer to them get lucky now and then but over a long time and a big number of hands you will find that there successes when they play bad hands are pretty much in line with the statistics. You should always rememember that any two cards have got a chance of winning against any other two cards. If you keep going in ahead of the bingo players then you will win in the long run. I do agree that poker in general is becoming loser with younger players in particular playing a wider range of opening hands. Of course this makes the game harder when you need to put your opponent on a hand but it does make them bingo players. Keep making the right decisions and you will win in the long run.

Also take note that european players are on average better than american players, it's something you'll have to overcome.

    We can say that.

    It's aluminium. There's two i's.

And why is it a flashlight? Does it flash? No it fucking doesn't, not unless you turn it on and off quickly, which is kinda pointless unless you're trying to induce an epileptic fit. It's a torch. Stop making words longer.

I found the games on mafiascum utterly boring, I started off playing 3 games at the same time and got replaced in all of them due to inactivity :/

lol fair enough. It's definitely different, not as friendly and as humourous as here. Your first game was a bit boring to be fair, I was watching for about a week then lost interest.

The KDE solitaire program is called patience. I'm almost used to calling it that now.
