Default 25NL FR - AK turned TPTK facing c/r

    Villain is 18/13 over 220 hands, fcbet 57% (4/7) turn fcbet 0% (0/2)

Despite the number of hands we never really got in each other's way until this. He's quite aggressive though.

Smallish bet on turn was to encourage calls from lower pairs, although on hindsight this is most probably a mistake. I really need to work on my bet sizing. Thoughts?

    Fold turn?

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (8 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($33.10)
    BB ($25.64)
    UTG ($25)
    Hero (UTG+1) ($25.37)
    MP1 ($25.85)
    MP2 ($5.07)
    CO ($11)
    Button ($24.90)

    Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with A, K
    1 fold, Hero bets $1, 4 folds, SB calls $0.90, 1 fold

    Flop: ($2.50) 10, Q, 2 (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.50, SB calls $1.50

    Turn: ($5.50) A (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.50, SB raises to $6, Hero ???
    Total pot: $17.50 | Rake: $0.79

Folding. I like turn sizing, I'm not thrilled by this turn by any means, but c/f seems weak. I don't expect villain to bluff raise us very often since our range is pretty strong here, AK being the bottom of it really. So around half pot b/f seems good to me.

You can probably cbet flop more, how much do you bet this flop when you have QQ+?

Next time this is probably a check behind against a sane/tight opponent with top top here.

That Ace helps a lot of his range and you still can get a bet out of something like KQ on the river.

As played, villain has a ton of queens and tens in his range and I'm folding. Villain is setting up for a pot jam on the river that we cannot call, meaning anything other than a fold is bad. There's a small chance he's bluffing the scare card and testing you given your weak-looking turn bet % relative to your flop bet, but he has 2 pair or better more often than not.

I think checking back the turn is better. We control the pot with a fairly weak holding but with some showdown value. We can also potentially extract some value from villains with KQ and we can get some good information on our opponent's tendencies.

FWIW, I'm not convinced auto cbetting this flop achieves anything - we aren't betting for value and we're unlikely to get a better hand to fold on this flop texture, yet there are plenty of turn cards that help us.

Not checking this flop or this turn, when he raises I'm prolly gonna fold unless I have reads not to, which by 220 hands you should prolly have if he's spew.

check back the turn as his continuing range is ahead of your hand

flop CB is fine and i like the size. i probably would bet the turn as well in play but fnord's point about never really missing any river value from hands we beat OTT by checking makes me think checking is better than betting. as played fold turn i suppose.

Going over the hand again and your comments I think turn should have been a check. Yeah I doubt 99- will even call a small bet, I just chop AK, and realistically the only hand that I beat that could call is AJ (if he even has it in his calling range OOP).

I was stumped about the c/r because I bet a small amount so now I'm wondering, is he just trying to get me off the hand?

@Onga we're IP, does that change your opinion? (about the c/f) and to your question I probably bet the same vs. a player with such stats.
