If villian 3bet w/ 99 in hi-jack. given it was only 2nd hand he played in 70 hands.

Its probably safe to assume 99 is at the bottom of his 3bet range right?

Probably, but not necessarily: AKs is probably in that range. Technically, 99 is ahead of AK.

Also, I've had card-dead runs MUCH longer than 70 hands. Consider that 99 might not even be in this villain's usual 3-bet range, but the villain is so bored with folding that they decided to take a stab.

Also, ranges have 'fuzzy edges' like clouds. Ranges are not the same for every position and every betting round. Consider raising UTG w/ AKs, then there's a 3-bet, a call and a 4-bet shove before the action gets back to you. Are you really thinking your AKs is good here?

My post is taking a bit of heat and I can see that it (my post) is kind of stupid. I'm clearly not the super-genius you all thought I was.

On the last part, I'm thinking that AKs is definitely in the raise and re-raise category for pre-flop holdings. However, when the action has gone raise call shove, I'm not likely to keep AKs in my range of "always raise" hands. My range has been cowed by the pre-flop action. I wouldn't want to continue in that spot w/o AA or KK or some specific read that Villain 3-bet shoves with non-premium hands.
