some poker self-shrinking

Since im too dumb to contribute in any significant way to poker theory, i have an observation (on myself) regarding poker psychology.

I suppose it is a form of win-tilt.
If I'm winning for a little bit, and it doesnt have to be over a huge sample, then i get used to winning. Of course, the cards change tides and then i have to be patient again if i want to win...(this is 10NL FR). This adjustment is expensive becuase i try to cbet when i know i shouldnt, and bet a scare card when its silly..really trying to maintain my winningness. I then get back to patient winner mode.

Overall, theres lots of waiting for a hand, but a decent amount in a row will fuck me in that it shifts my perception of how poker is - from a patient game to a fast game. Huge leak imo.

anyone else get this? It happens to me constantly as i readjust to medium term variance. Im trying to overcome it by just thinking about it while im winning.

yeah i definitely do. you're right it's bad. i find that having an overall game plan helps keep me in line a bit. ie i have "skeletal" ranges in my head for each seat at a full ring table which i use as base ranges to subtract and add hands from as i see fit based on stack sizes, positions, gameflow (who's tilting or playing looser etc etc). this helps because i have a reference point and i can refer to these ranges and go "what the fuck am i opening ATo for UTG without a very good reason?" then i realise that i'm subtly tilted and should either have a break or end the sesh.

When you say you are winning, do you mean in the last 10 hands, 100 hands, 1000 hands, 1000000000 or what? Remember poker is a lifelong session and it doesn't matter what is happening at one specific moment.

Always try to make the right play.. and learn to not give a crap whether you are up or down for one specific short session.

1000 hands is by far short term.
Play correct and let variance level the field.
