May be important to note, we are about 10 players from the money here, and I was chipleader, so I was playing fairly aggressive. The table had tightened up MAJORLY, and I had stolen villian's blinds 3 orbits in a row, so Im not surprised he wanted to steal some back. I wanted to get a flop out, play aggressive, and see how it went. When he shoves, I put his range on AJ or better, but likely AJ, and I was correct.

Maybe I was too loose preflop, but as I mentioned, I was seeing a lot of flops, as noone was playing much at all, and I wanted to bully.

    Thoughts?

HE//O Gibbdash, If you post a hand for discussion, you should leave out the results, dont even hint at them.

and try to convert them to something like the above format , a site called weaktight, com will help you do this , its kinder on the eyes.

When you have 10 posts under your belt, you can use the FTR converter .

Lastly, FTR folk will discuss your hands If you make a fair attempt to put your opponent on some kind of range, and exlain what you know about the relevant table. which you kinda done. but your attempt only included what he actually had.

I dont really see any reason to see a flop here. Playing aggressively is NOT calling a bunch of raises with a big stack and an average hand out of position. Fold this hand and then pound the button instead.

Im confused here. He's the CO and we're in the sb at a 9 handed table...so in order to steal his blind we'd have to be stealing from UTG or UTG+1 correct? This is likely bad in a tournament setting where we dont have much to gain since we're leading.

@preflop: calling raises out of position with a holding that is likely behind someones opening range is to me, one of those "never do this" kind of things...though obviously nothing in poker is never.

As others have said, if you want to be playing aggressively and pushing people around, do so in position. Abuse the button, CO, and HJ, do isolation raises and such where we have positional advantage. This way, even if we end up playing a weaker hand...it is only a small mistake since we have an edge postflop and are in position.

@flop: DONT PUT PEOPLE ON SINGLE HANDS. The biggest mistake anyone ever makes playing no limit holdem is not considering a RANGE of hands that villains might have. Dont make this mistake. Surely CO could be playing 66 this way correct? Or another JT?

Anyways, we're happy to get it in here obviously, so now the question is just about how to go about it. Without better info on villain, its kind of hard to debate whether c/c, c/r, b/c, or b/r is the best play, but we got it in so GJ.
