I never quite grasped how there could be all that much of a difference between madden 07, 08, 09, 10, ect.. Like.. in a computer game (non sports) these new releases would be patches, but here they want you to pay full price just for a further polished version of the game.
You-- yes, you-- you're a cunt.

Madden 10 is a definite upgrade over Madden 2009, a huge step forward. The mechanics of the game are pretty damn good. It's still hard as hell to run (unless you have mad skills with the sticks, which I don't), so that is pretty frustrating....but it's a good game.

NCAA 10 on the other hand was a step backwards, as NCAA 2009 is a much better game. Something about the game just doesn't "feel right," so I haven't really played it much after the first week of the game being out.

Most of these thoughts are echoed by other sports gamers across the board.

This makes a lot of sense to me, but I think you're underestimating the "upgrades" that are made on a year-to-year basis. I use the term upgrade loosely here because sometimes (as with this year's NCAA game) they took a step backward, and that really sucks when you're plopping down $60 for a game. Whereas Madden 10 feels like a brand new game to me (looks similar, but better and it's not close), NCAA 09 does feel like a patch that didn't really work.

I've always been a sports game nut, but I think I'm going to start renting more games in the future. I've found so few lately that I've fallen in love with that it's not funny. With all of the graphics upgrades they're trying to make games too real-to-life and the fun factor or playability of these games gets lost in the shuffle somehow.

there is a website that rents games through the mail kinda like Netflix, this might be a cool option for you gammers. I'm still happy with my PS1.
I was thinking of getting the Wii?

most of the time new versions feel the same as the previous, plus a feature or two.

madden 10 feels way different to me.

it's slower, so you have more time to react and the action just seems more realistic, especially when fighting for extra yards.

The only thing i really don't like about it is how the implemented the fight for the ball under a pile of players. I like the idea, just not how they did it.

I was a devout NFL2K fanboy and I'm still pissed about the exclusive NFL contract (I also liked EA's MLB game best, got fucked both ways) because I still never have adjusted to the feel of madden. I can easily say this is the best football game i've played since nfl2k5.

Holy shit. I feel the exact same way hawkfan (about the nfl exclusivity contract and nfl2k5 being top notch) I may have to buy it, I wasn't going to because my beloved broncos are 3rd worst team out there. lol.

I dunno. This game seems pretty meh so far. Gameplay is much slower (though you can speed it up) and the computer seems even more terrible than ever. Online gameplay cannot be sped up so it's essentially impossible for a good player to get sacked. I'd probably pass on this edition since mostly nothing got changed and the graphics just look kinda weird.

I agree almost word for word for with UG. 10 feels way different from 09. Running is hard as hell, but possible if you tweak the settings until it feels right or use the "my skill" stuff. XBLive matches are just QB throwing contests, though. The graphics are much improved in '10, and the gang tackles add a nice touch of realism.

NCAA 10 is a step back from '09, but not by much. It's basically the identical game, skip that one.

yeah it definitely is, but the running game is annoying. The computer can devastate you while holding you to like 15 yards a game pretty easily. Shit my last game Williams ran for over 250 yards, it was embarrassing.

I think a problem that has plagued madden over the years is the time clock. 5 minute quarters are stupid, it means the offenses are overpowered - they have to be or no points would ever be scored. Its really annoying seeing quarterbacks completing 15+ passes in a row, though, and feeling entirely helpless.

    But wtf can you do.

Make it 12 minutes quarters plus accelerated clock? Default options are for newbs.

Its how we have tuned the game to play more simlike for years.

    Bloodbowl.

    www.bloodbowl-game.com/

Rifles, Zombies, Chainsaws... at least one player dies every game, lots of times more... The board game is like 100x better, but the videogame doesn't suck.
