Well you are no longer playing texas holdem. You do realize that you can play holdem with only 2 people right? It's called Heads Up, and you still use the exact same rules. What is your purpose for removing cards from the deck?

Another variant is Royal Holdem which is usually played with blinds and limit betting and only uses the cards T-A. I think you can, or at least used to be able to, play this on UltimateBet.

The reason is, we see straight draws more than a pair or a two pair .

Since we have less cards, there is a huge chance to make straight . Anyways what do you think about playin holdem with aces and 8 and higher cards

Why don't you just play with all of the cards? I still fail to see your reasoning for wanting to remove cards because "we don't have enough people" is very poor reasoning. If are just wanting to have fun and experiment with different variants, then that's fine.

And personally, I think it's retarded to play holdem if any cards are removed.

You could do 7-card no peek with the 6th card wild...

I think learning regular heads up play would be beneficial, since you could actually get good and make money. Just need to lower your standards with hands.

You could also play a standard variant like omaha, if you like making big hands.

agree 100%....just don't understand the reasoning behind this.....why not use all cards & help improve ur heads-up play

That's how I used to play it with my friends, too. The reason we played it like that was we were seeing flush over flush, quads, fullhouse, straightflushes,.. etc. We didn't know how to play with the whole deck and we found it more fun.

When I play hold 'em at home, I deal out all the cards to the players, and then each player in turn asks a player if they have any cards of a given rank (say, "give me all your threes"). And then the other player tells him to "go fish".

This Texas Hold 'Em game is so much fun!

It's still a holdem variant, not an entirely different game. There are other variants you can do like six community cards and/or three starting cards (aka pineapple) and/or play high/low split with no qualifier for the low.

I'd suggest talking them into playing pot-limit Royal holdem if they like to play a lot of hands. If you play super tight you could seriously bust multiple people in one night.

Additionally playing variants like this can be massively +EV if you adjust and figure the things out that you need to figure out odds-wise before your opponents do.
