Default Bad Play Or Bad Player?

I like to raise with junk every so often to keep ppl guessing, ppl who play just monsters are too predictable. Posting this due to reading some1's post about playin rags....

Did i play this badly or shud this guy not of called on the turn ?
The only thing i possibly did wrong was check raise instead of flat betting it after the flop, maybes me being greedy but i still feel it was a nice play and a bad call by him. Once he had bet 300 he must of felt lured into the pot. But i dont know. What do u think...feedback appreciated...

well he was either a really bad player or a really good player. Really bad in that he called a raise with A6 and called an all in with 2nd pair but if he was really good he probably put you on a steal and figured his pair was good. Good players tend to see a strong bet on the flop as a sign of bluffing (especially on the that flop, there was no reason to reraise strongly if you had anything since there are no apparent draws) and will even call with Ace high. If you had a strong hand like 2 pairs or a set you would most likely flat call and hope he bets again on the turn. Bluffing with rags is a good strategy to steal blinds but if you get called, you really shouldn't continue with the bluff unless you have a really good read on your opponent.

    Poor play.

Unsuited 2-gapper is really ass raggy, then raising someone on a King high flop with no chance to get away from the hand.

At some point you got to know when to hit the breaks.

oh yeah...i forgot to add... he said once he won that he didn;t think he was gonna win it (so why call the all-in??)

But i dunno if u saying that 6-9 is a shite hand... but something like 3-5 suited is a good hand then u are crazy imo. I know its alot more risky due to less outs but a shite hand is a shite hand... I've had alot of ppl call my all-in's when i was low stacked with cards purely because they are suited... J-9 suited and such.

Is there something about suited cards that i dont know? they are magic or something ?

If any1 has seen the WSOP from 2003... scotty ngyun bets 21,000 b4 the flop with 3-8os... nomberto brenes (not sure of spelling)... raises it to 50,000 with A-10os... and then scotty nguyn re-raises with 3-8os to 100,000 and he folds the A-10. If some1 bets any 2 cards strongly... unless u have a decent hand yaself (or a hand u are confident in) i dont know how u can make a call.

    Sparky,

I think mixing it up once in a while is good tournament strategy. Maybe you were making that play too often though, so the other player read into that and called your bet pre-flop.

And then once he bet the 300, he's basically invested over half his chips into this hand, the blinds are pretty high for his stack, I don't think you were gonna shake him with your over the top bet.

IMHO, if you were willing to risk your chips to buy this pot, I would have made the all-in bet right after the flop and hope he gets out.

Or, then, folded to his 300 bet, since he probably wasn't going to go anywhere.

    nice...

i am pleased with that reply... it was the only thing i felt i did wrong was letting him commit to the pot so he had no turning back.. tbh this was the first time i had raised with junk and i mean total junk..i'd done some cheeky raises with Q-10os on the button to steal ppl limping in (and i hate Q-10 ;P ) but nothing to this extent..i think the fact i'd won a hand 2/3 b4 to double thru had given me the old ego and the "cant be beaten" attitude. Neglected his circumstances and the table circumstances... because as soon as i raised pre-flop i got the idea that i was gonna win that hand...they say u learn from ya mistakes and i'll definately do it here. good experience i feel in retrospect.

I am gonna carry on mixing up my play a bit... gonna fine tune it a bit more tho, folding when re-raised and such... i just get involved with a hand way too easily.

Luckily i came back from this with a couple of double thru's and was chip leader with about 30 left...went out in 20th lol..when i flopped 2 pair and some1 turned trips. took 80% of my stack...then lost with A-K... ah well
