Default falling in love with your hand

    Hi All,

Question for all those that play....what can i do to not fall in love with your hand?

for instance......i had AA raised it a fair amount and the flop come K J 10..... I raise and he reraises so I go all in (was pretty much pot committed) and i lose because he shows Q 9. thinking back i could have put him on AQ but i just couldnt let it go.......any one with this problem like me? wut do you do to combat this?

Whenever you have a decision to make, whether it's to bet or check, or call/raise/fold, run through how you think your hand holds up against villains range. Whether you think you are ahead, or behind. Whether you can bet/raise for value, or need to simply check or call. If you find you are sitting there thinking it's really close or your behind, that would seem like a great time to fall "out" of love with your hand and fold wouldn't it?

If he is an agressive player, you can put him on K's but if he is a solid or tight player, then you just have to tell yourself "He wouldn't raise unless he has the goods". Then you will be able to lay it down. As always, it depends on the tendencies of your opponents.

you can't "put them on a hand". we put them on a range of hands and play against their range

aces or kings are the toughest hands to fall out of love with it but sometimes to stay in the game u have to toss them .

OP question on this particular hand maybe did I raise enough pre-flop? Often times we allow ppl to draw out on us. Make sure you are betting enough so that if they are drawing it is a mistake to call. That way if you force them to make a mistake then you have played the hand correctly. That being said after the flop then yes you need to put them on a range and recognize when you are behind. AA is only a pair!

The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck."

You guys are all helping him not fall in love with his own hand

OP clearly wants to know how to not fall in love with his opponents hands.
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes
