    Default Am I retarded - 2 hands from 10NL

Havent had much time for poker in the last few months as I have just set up a business and all my energy is going into that right now. Have played a few sessions when I have time, but things havent been going very well - largely due to a lack of studying the game and playing in auto pilot, not really thinking about the players Im against.

Anyway here are a few hands:

    Hand 1:

Villain is 47/0 over about 27 hands

FTR Hand History Converter Output (intended for copying and pasting into poker forums!):
    No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Button ($12.40)
    SB ($10.90)
    Hero (BB) ($10.40)
    UTG ($4.35)
    MP ($1.70)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9, J
UTG calls $0.10, 2 folds, SB calls $0.05, Hero checks

    Flop: ($0.30) 9, 4, 8 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.30, UTG calls $0.30, 1 fold

    Turn: ($0.90) 2 (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.80, UTG raises $3.95 (All-In), Hero ???

Given his stats Im thinking villain could be shoving with any heart - im inclined to call here. Should I be more cautious?

    Hand 2:

Villain is 12/12/1.0 over 26 hands

FTR Hand History Converter Output (intended for copying and pasting into poker forums!):
    No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - Hold'em Manager Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    Button ($6.05)
    SB ($18.80)
    Hero (BB) ($10.20)
    UTG ($10.10)
    MP ($9.70)
    CO ($9.70)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J, J
1 fold, MP bets $0.40, 3 folds, Hero raises $1.10, MP calls $0.80

    Flop: ($2.45) 3, K, 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $1.50, MP calls $1.50

    Turn: ($5.45) 3 (2 players)
    Hero ??

So 3betting OOP with JJ against what looks like a tight player, is probably a bad move as this narrows his range quite a bit.

On the flop I make a smallish CBet to try take it down. Hows my betsizing given the board - should I be making a larger bet to try and push him off any draws

After he calls, what is plan for the rest of the hand. Im thinking the correct approach is to c/f turn and river.

Hand 1 I would check/call turn because that's a card he might decide you're not happy with and would sometimes fire at it
    then I'd evaluate river
your relative hand strength is actually pretty low, you have the fourth nuts
he probably has the ace after he raises you

    Hand 2 3betting is fine
c/f turn is also probably fine, I can't imagine a tight player (we know he can't be an 40/6 fish already) at 10NL would be floating you on the flop with nothing and betting to take it away
if he has a worse hand he will probably let you check it down

Why are we turning JJ into a bluff preflop in H2?

Hand 2 3b is awful IMO. Pick worse hands to 3b bluff. Cant see how you would be 3betting for value in this spot. JJ is definetely in my calling range against this guy.

That's not our concern necessarily, nor the reason this is probably a bluff.

he should call with worse, like T8s, 67s+, 88+, sometimes AJ

and if he folds everything to a 3b then just sit there and 3b bot him all day until he quits

    happy 1 year at FTR!!!

hand 1 I guess I'd start by checking the turn

hand 2 3betting is fine wtf all you nits just make it slightly bigger, calling is also fine PF, it's not like someone can actually prove to me how it's a leak to be 3betting JJ here against an MP opener in 6max.

    I don't think it's a leak, but maybe I'm just too nitty 3betting OOP.

iopq I think your continuing range is skewed towards 28/20 LAGs or something.
    Ich grolle nicht...
