Need serious advice

I cannot seem to take 2NL seriously, i do not know why. I decided to ignore BR management and jump up to 5NL been doing decent ups and downs. Moved to 5NL at $19 turned that into $54 in the next 4 days. and here i am sitting at $34. IDK if i should try to stick it out at 2NL or add a few bucks and play fully at 5NL. Been reading a ton, have not posted much as opposed to me reading as much as i can. But i seem to not be able to focus at 2NL, just really don't seem to take it seriously. What should i do??

It's hard work, that's why so many people fail. To play 5nl rolled you need at least $100. If you can't beat 2nl you wont be able to beat 5nl. That's why everyone usually suggests starting at 2nl and working up.

You might as well just put your money on some sporting event you fancy a bet on, if you're playing outside of your bankroll. That's not poker, it's gambling.

I'd say take things slowly, don't rush it and just remember that the early stakes are the foundation to your success in the higher stakes, that might help to focus. It is hard, but hey - if it wasn't everyone would be a pro right?

If you think your game's good enough to beat 5NL then add some more money It'll speed up the aggrovating process of grinding 2NL. Try posting some hands and getting some feedback to find out how you're doing.

If you have loads of leaks though, build the roll from 2NL it'll help sort these out and make you a way better player at 5NL and upwards when you do move up.

I think i could beat 2NL no problem. I just can't really take it seriously being its 2 cent blinds. I know 5 is not that much more yet i seem focus a lot more and throw 100% at it. I am finally realizing i need to FOLD a much larger amount. And not think people are only bluffing at this low level. It's just not the case. On that plane i am making my game tremendously better.

If it's easy for you to get money on a poker site and you have no problem reloading if you go broke, then maybe give 5NL a shot and see how it goes. The important part is to be able to drop back down to 2NL if you're struggling rather than going broke, redepositing and trying again.

You don't have to start at 2NL to be successful at poker, but you do need to play within your bank roll. So either drop down to 2, or up your bank roll so you can play comfortably.

I don't understand why you can take 5nl seriously but not 2nl, it's not like there's really any difference.

Part of winning at poker is being disciplined and throwing your ego aside at times. This is as good of a time as any to start practicing these traits.
