    Default Girl wrestler debate

    http://www.omaha.com/article/20110217/NEWS01/702179839

So me and the wife are at odds on this one. I say the boy is simply being a puss and doesn't want to run the risk of getting his ass kick by a girl. My wife claims that she shouldn't be wrestling in the first place and she respects the boy and thinks it wrong that he has to forfeit a match because of his scruples.

I say this is a sport that she is a willing participant in and not some dude smacking a girl in the face at a bar. His religion may preach to treat women a certain way but it isn't applicable here. To me if his religion says violence or whatever against women is wrong then I assume he would be against violence against anyone and if he wants to use that as an excuse he shouldn't be wrestling anyone period.

    Thoughts anyone….

You are an FTR station-pwn'ing badass motherf**ker. You have no pansyass, girly-girl, crybaby fears. Pwn the f**king stations like you know you ought to. And win some damn money, dammit.

His parents are fuckups by not teaching him to clown that ass

My brother once did something similar, as I would have as well. A lot of boys won't wrestle girls because that's what we're taught in one form or another.

I could only hope that any son of mine would have the opportunity to roll with a chick. I'd make sure he knows to teach her what real men are capable of

Regardless, I fully support women in wrestling. Because fuck it right? Any problem is on the level of retard grownups shoving their panties up their asses, and projecting those thoughts onto the kids.

he's not afraid of losing to the girl, the guy is obviously a good wrestler at 35-4 and (probably) would have smoked a 20-13 girl. if a girl enters a sport like wrestling, she knows what she is getting herself into and expects to be tossed around. it is a bit awkward, for sure, i wrestled a few girls in high school since i was always 119 or lower weight class and didn't want to.

    poor indoctrinated kid.

If he believes in his heart of hearts that it is wrong to wrestle against a girl, then I respect him for standing by his scruples.

It a little bit sucks for the girl that the stigma of her even competing is made explicit. I don't see how this experience can be bad for her though. It's just a bit lame that she doesn't get to wrestle a talented opponent to see how she can measure up.

Besides, at the end of the day, it's a highschool wrestling tourny. So long as no laws are broken and no lasting harm is done, I'm fine with any and all outcomes.

edit Remember, you've never met this kid. You don't know if he's brainwashed or if he truly believes that his life will be one where he never moves violently against a woman.

Is it weird that back when I was a young wrestler I would have never wrestled a girl, but now I would leap at the opportunity to smash her to bits? And not in any kind of sexual way, just that I would love to go back in time and wrestle all the chicks I could. Teach them that Tony Danza ain't the only boss

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

also i want to note that this kind of crap happens a whole lot (for real), especially when some little homeschooled hyper jesus freak christian brainwashed fucker thinks he's not supposed to touch girls until he's 30

there's usually a story about this somewhere each year about this time when state tournaments are going on when some spandex-wearing faggot forfeits to some girl because he doesn't want to question his sexuality for jesus or whatever, hell i think it happened once at midlands like 10 years ago

So I'm to understand that the only possible reason he doesn't want to wrestle a girl is because he's a Jesus-freak?

There is no possible chance that he just doesn't want to wrestle a girl and uses his faith as social shielding?

Kind of funny too that there are 2 girls at state this year. The one girl got her win by the forfeit so she moves on. The other girl lost her match so she is in the consolation round. Where she could end up facing the boy who forfeited to the other girl. Which I assume will make him forfeit again.

If this was actually about touching the girl in an inappropriate way I could actually side with the kid. Whether you agree with his religion, beliefs whatever isn't the point. If it goes against his teachings to touch a women that way fine. I see that just can't be avoided so forfeit. But every explanation I have heard is because of the physical/violent aspect of it. That situation makes no sense to me because as I said this is a sport, not smacking around your girlfriend because she is lippy. She knows what the sport is about and wants to do it. And it’s a SPORT.

Maybe the touching does have something to do with it and they just didn't talk about that aspect of it. The violence against women thing just seems dumb though.

But honestly it might be nice if there were more kids that age with that attitude then the predominant attitude I see with most of the young assholes today.

He may be a brainwashed Jesus freak but I'm not going to brand him that. Actually nowhere I have read is it mentioned exactly what religion he is. That fact I would actually like so I know what "teachings" he is following.

I mean I'm sure its some grass roots christian thing but there are several of those.

*- And just adding this. When I originally made the post and called him a puss I really hadn't read the link. I really didn't understand the home schooling religion aspect. I thought it was just some normal kid making an excuse. After I read the peice I no longer feel his fear of losing to a girl played a part in the decision at all.

And to answer (or not answer) your question Spoon on how she got to State with her record I have no idea. My daughter is a wrestling manager and dating one of the top 140lbers in the state and I have no idea how that shit works. I fucking hate wrestling. Seeing nothing but male packages stuffed into singlets and smelling ass sweat all day isn't my idea of a thrilling spectator sport.

I keep pushing her to play volleyball so I can go watch young girls in spandex without being labeled as that creepy dude.

It is worth noting that we basically don't know anything beyond the fact that the kid forfeit the match and what he was quoted as saying in the article. Reading into it any further than that is wholly an exercise in filling in the blanks at your discretion.

I chose to fill in those blanks with him being level headed and having no desire to wrestle a girl he feels he could injure because he believes himself to be the kind of man that will never move violently against a female. (Kids do tend to have their ideals) He adds in that it's a measure of his faith because he lives in a place where that excuse will be respected.

    lol yeah it was

i had to wrestle a few girls but none of them were particularly good, the lowest i could cut to was usually 130 or 135 and there was this badass bitch at 125 that placed top 3 in state all 4 years and i'm so glad i never had to wrestle her

edit: just remembered, we went to lock haven every summer for this camp shit and there was this one chick there who was like a 7th grader who totally fucking destroyed a guy at my school who was going to be a senior and was ranked like top 5 in the state or w/e going into the next season, it was sick

Maybe he has a quick trigger on the lovesauce. Wrestling a chick with such a condition is just asking for trouble.

    Don't judge.
