    Default Group sweats

I had this idea reading thru the coaching sticky. First off, this isn´t meant to substitute an individual coaching, I have no doubt that will does a great job and can help you improve a whole lot. But

Teaching is a good way to learn also... so it's not completely one-sided.
No from my own experience I can tell that helping others surely helps ur own progress as well. Yet there´s the problem, that this forum and the BC crowd is divided in those who frequent IRC and those who dont, hence not everyone will have the opportunity of asking some of the small/midstakes regulars for a free sweating. In add to that I think that although the rate of $50 is a more than fair offer, only few guys at 25NL and below can afford it.

My idea is to set up a weekly group session, where a small or midstakes player volunteers to play a couple of tables and have the crowd railing him via Mikogo and a conference in Skype. I´ve had some experiences with group session in the past as a student and everyone agreed that it was pretty cool and helped a lot.

In case there is some interest in this I´m willing to go ahead and play 100NL 5max on Wed 9pm GMT. Let me know what you think.

++EV idea. I'm in. But maybe not for this session. That's middle of the afternoon here in Texas, so I'll still be at work.

I once busted someones buy in a NL 25 game. He was playing so badly I offered him a sweat session for 100 dollar/hour(being sarcastic oc). He went on the craziest tilt I ever saw and 30 minutes later I had 4 more of his buy ins.

I would do this if we could do it with Mac-compatible software.

I think Camtasia will record your screen. The beauty of this is that anyone can record the screen. Now I also think the Skype call can be recorded too, but I'm not exactly sure. Recording both and overlaying the audio with the video would be awesome.

IRC stands for internet chat relay. Here is a link that can explain it better.

I'd love to do this too.

Challenge for me will be timing - I'm in Australia which I think is about GMT +10. I definitely can't make the suggested time this week, but if I get up early enough next time I'll be there!

Awesome. As i stated in the OP I´m gonna use Mikogo and Skype, make sure to have those installed. Please pm me ur Skype ID so I´ll be able to invite everyone to the conference. I´ll send pms with the Mikogo Session ID on Wed evening.

As for recording these: I can probably record my screen with camtasia. I´m kinda retarded with computers, so if anyone else would record the audio from Skype and put it all together afterwards that would be pretty cool.

It looks like both skype and mikogo have a 10 person limit. It'd be nice to get more people, but truthfully I don't think you want that many people on a phone call at once anyway. I read that you can use camtasia to mux the video and audio, but I don't haven't been able to "buy" a copy of camtasia, so I haven't had a chance to see how it works.

I think the 10 person limit isn't too awful, except that you won't get a chance to ask a question if you're not one of the 10, but at least we'll all hopefully have a chance to watch and listen to the session afterward. I think this is an awesome idea and I'm pumped to see how the first one goes.

Webex, an enterprise version of Mikogo, allows for recording. You might want to see if that can record it's sessions. The less applications you have to run, the better.

Regarding numbers, I think any more than 10 and it's gonna get unruly pretty quickly anyways? Never done a group sweat or really been in IRC so that is an (un)educated guess. Besides, I'm sure any talking points/interesting hands will get slung into the forum anyway

You can record sessions (without audio) with Teamviewer. Teamviewer is > Mikogo imo but either way is fine.

I think this is a great idea!

Yes, Camtasia is able to record audio as well. If you have trouble, there is plenty of info available on Google.

I think the format should have one or two coaches for the players and the rest as passive observers. Anything else would be chaotic.

So if this is going to be done with completely free software, I think the limit has to be 10 people. After doing some quick researching, it looks like we could use:

    - Skype for the conversation
    - Mikogo for desktop sharing
    - Since anyone on the call can record the screen, whatever software is used for that is up to the person doing the recording. I found an open source program called CamStudio (http://camstudio.org/) that looks like it does both screen and audio recording together, so it'll spit out an avi with both video and audio. I haven't messed with this yet, but hopefully it's pretty straight forward. Looks like it's only for windows, but i'm sure there are other open source alternatives for mac and linux.

Does teamviewer have a skype plugin? I feel like that's a great asset.
