You really think you should shove here? Why? Because the river is going to be the ace of diamonds?

    I don't know what I should have done. That's why I'm asking.

As long as you folded the river, you played fine... Shoving the turn in this situation makes you the least amount with your strong hand. River is the worst possible card for you. A 40/10 villian might be bluffing here, but on that board there are WAY too many hands that destroy yours.
    Hey knucklehead! Bonk!

You would shove the turn (.35 cent pot with like 9 dollar effective stacks) if you thought the guy would call with worse. Of course, you would also have to think that it was the most profitable line to take. Betting .45 was great because it bloats the pot even more on the river for a large river value bet. He can call on the turn with all flush draws, Pair+straight draw combos, two pairs, sets. That's a huge range to get value from.

When he leads into you, it's a pretty obvious value line and you should muck as quickly as possible. He would likely never do this with 2 pair/sets, hid pair+straight draws got there and I even doubt he'd throw this much money in with those. He probably expects you to not be able to fold your big hands (people will tend to think "it's my pot!" on the turn and not fold to any action on river scare cards) and his nut flush is gonna get paid off. Maybe he even had a royal!

I fold the flop because I am not drawing to the nuts, and I don't have immediate odds to get my straight while the guy behind me could raise in which case I'll be playing OOP against a flop raiser with an oesd

ok, I should've folded pre flop but another question.
If the river is say a 2h or something that probably won't help either of us, how should I play the river if he makes the same river bet? I can't really put him in AQ as played right unless he's slowplaying?

well, that's the thing. I don't think he can make this river bet without a really big hand. Of course, his play would make no sense considering his c/call on the turn, so I would call. Basically, I'm saying that he can't run this line on a 2h river and that's why it's a call.
